Tawny Newsome and Justin Simien developing new live-action Trek series

I was about to make a new generalization about this news but that would be silly in a forum about speculation . Show needs to air first 🙄
Hoping for optimism.

I rather have people express real uninformed opinions rather than blind optimism.

If your benchmark for feedback is watching a show your gripe has to be ANY feedback. Positive or Negative.

If everyone is Positive, you should be complaining about people being positive without all the facts.

Unless you saying uninformed positive feedback is ok but uninformed Negative feedback is bad?

So we're getting an entire show set on Risa* huh? Makes sense, given what hits all of the Risa episodes were.

* I know, technically it could be another resort planet from the 25th century. But why would you do this and not have it on Risa?

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, though half-hour sitcoms really aren't my thing at this point in my life. I presume the main reason it's getting made is it will be cheap to produce (compared to normal live-action Trek) which made it easier to pitch than an hour-long, VFX-heavy dramatic series.

Uniformed is uniformed.

So you were looking for uninformed optimism?

Opinions should be alowed to evolve. Intital reactions is part of the human condition . Including revered, characters within the Star Trek shows who often also react that same way strangly enough.

But hey if you choose to believe only Star Trek fans do this, go right ahead

!
Star Trek fans, for decades: We want a show that isn't focused on Starfleet.
Producers: We're planning a show that isn't focused on Starfleet.
Star trek fans: Not like that!

Agreed. If they announced a Star Trek show about a frog in a swamp in a Star Trek world somewhere we should be grateful for not being about Starfleet. We should be as happy and authentic as a Walmart cheer. But hey we shouldn't be allowed to express intital reactions so hey...could be good..could be bad

I'm guessing the show won't really have "bad guys" to speak of, if they really are going the workplace comedy route.

OTOH, apparently Starfleet Academy does, so maybe they just can't help themselves.

Probably comes down to whether the show is episodic or serialized.

Can someone logically explain to me why it's odd or wrong to express intial feedback ( premature or otherwise )in a FUTURE of Trek forum?

Actually I think intial feedback, even premature, can be very productive for marketing purposes. It could promote different methodologies on how, what or when something is initially announced to an consumer audience to create a buzz of anticipation
