Tawny Newsome and Justin Simien developing new live-action Trek series

Not that I don't genuinely love Tawny Newsome to bits but there's something a bit odd about Alex Kurtzman's sudden obsession with her. Like personally intervening in the contract issue she had, getting her writing on Academy, and now this. I'm not suggesting anything pervy but more that she's almost become his adoptee, in a Adira Gray Stamets Culber sort of way. Ick.

Watching a show.

That's my threshold. Waiting for all information. It's only logical.

Hoping for rationality from Trek fans.

Don't single out Trekkies then. Only Star Trek fans don't do this.

You must hate ALL trailer reactions on YouTube then. There are literally tens of millions of people who provide feedback on something that has not been seen

We live in a thumbs up, thumps down world. Not a Trekkies thing.

I remember when everyone was shitting on Lower Decks and Prodigy. No one thought they would work out either.
I just checked the first few pages of both of their original threads and the vibe was generally positive. People were worried that they'd be too childish, a few were concerned Lower Decks would be too dull and Prodigy would be too Star Wars, but it seemed like most were interested in seeing how they turned out.

You are overthinking it. He just cares for the people under him

Yes.

Irrational pap.

Since I don't participate in those communities I don't comment. But Trek fans claim being more intelligent than average people and that Trek should be more rational, a thinkers show.

Well, this doesn't strike me as thinking.

Since you value informed opinions, can you give me a citation that Star Trek fans claim being more intelligent than average people.? Show the final product confirmation of this.

You seem to be making generalizations on a whole fan community. Doesn't sound logical.

Based upon comments here, especially against Discovery that it is too emotional. That Trek is more intelligent sci-fi.

Generalizing? Yes, yes I am. Just like the generalizations on this announcement. Ridiculous isn't it?

Those aren't claims. Theyre opinions. Even so, I know many people in real life who like Trek and I don't think we all think we are smarter than average people .

Why are you in this subforum? It's all about speculation and uninformed opinions.

This thread has been educational. Apparently only Star Trek fans react negative to news about a new show and we all think we are smarter than average people

So people with high IQs Apparently never give negative feedback on breaking news on a show or movie

Newsome and Simien are only creating it (At the moment). It may or may not be a thing.

Paramount wants to do more partnerships (Prodigy is now on Netflix). It could end up anywhere (Comedy Central? Apple? Amazon?)

At first, I thought they were going after The Orville:

Orville Fans: "Seth MacFarlane does Trek better than Alex Kurtzman!"
Alex Kurtzman: "Hold my raktajino ..."
