Unfortunately it's what it's connected to that makes all this a bit more than that. We have a female actress who was sexually assaulted by a producer and threatened by said producer. We have a Director who forced her into a dangerous stunt in which she was injured, then Director and Producer kept evidence of the stunt from her for 15 years so she couldn't sue. She also said that in the scenes of Kill Bill where she was strangled by chains and getting spit in the face it was Tarantino on the other side doing those actions. It all paints an unpleasant picture of two powerful men against a young woman. Sure, Tarantino confronted Weinstein over what happened but how many years ago was that? How many more years did they work together? I don't know the whole picture of course and there could be more to it but there are no studios around today that want to be connected to anything like that.Tarantino isn't the first Director to push actors too far into doing their own stunts, or turn a blind eye to unsafe situations and not heed warnings about unsavoury characters. As far as dangers you can mitigate against, there are people who's job it is to ensure stunts work to plan and they'll have sat in that car and done that exact same sequence themselves personally. Surely QT trusted them, and did whatever he did to provoke Thurman to act in a certain way in the scene. Yes, I can believe there are some Directors who'll behave like tyrants purposely to get a response from an actor that probably wouldn't ordinarily be capable of delivering that intense. It's a weird schizophrenic business is show.
