Tales of Monkey Island

Re: Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 - Launch of the Screaming Narwha

Can't wait for this. Planning to get it on WiiWare, but I'm thinking of holding out until the inevitable XBLA version as I am a shallow achievement whore. Also, 720p. Was tempted to get it on Steam but, sigh, I'm very much a couch gamer these days.

It's probably some kind of obscene blasphemy in some circles to play Monkey Island on a console...
Blasphemer, Heretic, point and click!
It's ok, there's very little point and click in Tales... tis good though.

If you do reconsider about getting it on PC get it from Telltale's website rather than steam because you get the option of getting a free DVD of the game at the end of the series (although you have to pay for P+P).

I'm considering buying it eventually on PC. It looks amusing...

I don't get why they force you to buy the whole season. Is it like a thing to get money from the super fans first, to make sure they don't bail on buying further episodes?

Re: Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 - Launch of the Screaming Narwha

Second chapter is due out today (PST), looking forward to more zany Guybrush action...

According to this it's not coming out on the 360.

Which if true sucks ass.

If anything a 360 release will be all of the games at once like Sam and Max season 1 since the XBLA release schedule is very strictly controlled by Microsoft.

I downloaded the new episode today but the game crashes when I try to start it up. I tried the first episode and it also does that now, though Sam and Max 201 is working fine.

I think I need to order a new power supply, based on the specs and research I've seen the one I have doesn't have the amps necessary to run my 4850 with any sort of stability. :(

Atrus, a poster on the Something Awful forums who is a lead programmer for Telltalle, says that there are currently no plans -- though it's certainly possible -- for Tales of Monkey Island to wind up on XBLA. It's just a matter of seeing enough revenue potential to code for the 360.

Just finished off chapter 2. Like the new main supporting character they introduced in the Pirate Hunter Morgan LeFlay. It's odd to have someone who thinks Guybrush is actually a mighty pirate, usually either no one has heard of him or the people that know him consider him a bit of an oaf if not a downright hazard. The non-Zombie LeChuck was entertaining as well, though it is odd to be helping him out and not running for your life!

Loved the little cameo of the "Pirate I was meant to be Song", it was one of my favourite moments in MI3.

One of my favourite lines in this chapter was when you have to distract two pirates, Guybrush:"Look a distraction!"
Pirate:"Oh! What's it distracting?"

To celebrate "Talk Like A Pirate Day" Telltale Games is offering a free episode online when you visit their site before midnight PST. So if you want to sample the TOMI series you can get the first episode and give it a whirl without it costing you a cent.
