I was using my sarcasm voice. I really couldn't care less what Takei has to say.

I don't much care what Takei, or any other old guard Trek actor thinks of Discovery. I don't need their seal of approval.
Not that his opinion on wanting more gay characters in Trek was ever really in doubt (he just disputed making nuSulu gay), but given the bruhaha that ensued following his remarks on nuSulu in Beyond, I appreciate him making the effort to get out in front of this and express his enthusiasm for the gay character in Discovery. It's not intended as a required seal of approval, it's just an expression of support.
