Looks pretty awesome so far. Only a hint of Jane at the end but presumably we'll get more in the next trailer. Awesome to see her wielding the reforged Mjölinr!

Jesus Christ - Natalie Portman packed on some serious muscle for her frame!:eek:

If the story rumors are correct about Gorr the God Butcher that trailer is also massively misleading ( it's Marvel, d'uh) but it also doesn't reveal anything about the story so it's cool.

I'm also surprised that the marketing campaign starts so late but given the other movies they will ramp up the campaign exponentially until everyone is sick of it and wants the movie to start, if they will see it or not.

Looks like the movie will be fun and weird. Still not quite sure what the movie is about. It looks like Thor retires from being a super hero and tries to be a "regular guy" and helps rebuild New Asgard. Presumably, there will be some threat or something that brings him out of retirement or maybe he passes the torch to Jane? Curious to see how Jane becomes the new "Thor" since she is a regular human. How does she get her powers?

Took my second viewing to realize that's Russell Crowe's Zeus we see from behind wielding the lightning bolt.

No CGI required.

If rumors are correct they will adapt the Gorr, the God Butcher storyline ( in short an extremely powerful Alien with an even more powerful weapon is hunting Gods across the Universe and finally crosses paths with Thor). All details point to it, including the introduction of the Greek pantheon ( where Gorr will undoubtedly cause some major damage).

As to Jane - well, she somehow either must be worthy of Mjolnir, though it would give me some serious mental headache to see them explain that away when "worthier" people like Clint Barton weren't able to pick it up, or that enchantment doesn't exist since this Mjolnir was pulled from a different universe.

One thing i notice is that this Mjolnir is slightly different, i.e. it has some cracks that "prime" Mjolnir didn't have.

Sure it did, when Hela smashed it to bits. This isn't the alternate time Mjolnir, it's the original article, post-destruction and somehow reassembled.

How does she get her powers?

"Whomever wields this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

Mjolnir = god powers.

Now, how the hammer has been reforged remains to be seen.

Peter Dinklage pretty much admitted he's in the movie a few months back.

I'd not heard this. That would be awesome. But I also suspect unlikely to be the reason Mjolnir has returned. Why would he recreate Thor's hammer for someone else?

My initial suspicion is that Thor suspects his involvement, but upon investigation learns he had nothing to do with it. Deepening the mystery of the new Thor's hammer before we get whatever the actual reveal ends up being.

I think it's more likely that Eitri is the one who reforges the original Mjölinr as it's clearly the same one and not a recreation.

The question is how and when Jane becomes involved.

As somebody who got burnt out on the MCU but loves the character of Thor, I bristle at the inclusion of the Guardians of the Galaxy in this movie because it means I have to watch stuff that I don't really care about for contextual and plot-relevant setup.

I also have the same issues with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness so prominently featuring Scarlet Witch.

There's nothing I can do about that fact, though, so I've just got to deal with it.

Counter-point: right-wing fungy Chris Pratt is playing a character that Thor wants to get freaky with, and that amuses the hell out of me. Was Pratt as unaware of the subtext as Charlton Heston was when making Ben Hur? :guffaw:

Just to clarify: when I said "stuff that I don't care about" I was referring to movies involving Thor that aren't about him but that set up the presence of the Guardians in this particular movie.
