There is a difference between art made 50+ years ago and art made today. Audiences are different, demographics are different and Hollywood does well to reach as many people as possible.

Just because you grew up with something and that makes it seem normal, doesn't mean it is right. I love Tom and Jerry, it doesn't mean there's a place for it in the modern world.

It honestly doesn’t make me feel better. When I read your sexists and racist posts, a heavy weight comes over me, that people still believe the shit your are posting. That white straight men are in such a panic because a few movies have women in leads. It’s tiresome.

Social media sucks, in my opinion. The rates of depression concern me, and social media use has a strong tie to that impact upon youth and teens. Social media is a duel edge sword that I'm not convinced is worth its trouble.

35 year old woman here, I don’t think they’ve been devalued either. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since birth due to my dad and half sister. I’ve been a Trek fan that long as well, I loved Marvel and DC as soon as I saw Superman The Movie the 90s X-Men cartoon. I’m pretty sure I count as a “real fan” by any definition. Rey is my favorite character next to Luke and has been from the moment I saw her Force grab the Skywalker lightsaber at the end of TFA.


All I’ve seen is a bunch of crybabies suddenly get upset about female characters, largely driven by a sexist, bigoted internet movement that has poisoned the brains of the simple minded.

Untrue. Example: when I did directly state that he inconsistently applies criteria in order reach preordained conclusions he didn't even reply. Or perhaps I'm ignored? Or, gasp, could it be that the only posts meriting a reply are the ones that where you can accuse the other persons of something?

I have a feeling Waititi could make an excellent Star Wars movie, one which is more eclectic and colourful than many we have seen before, but something entertaining for sure.

I can't help but wonder what period & setting Taika might choose to make a Star Wars movie. I think the best fit might be something to do with the underworld. That seems the be the right mix of bombast and grounded humour that suits his usual style. He'd actually probably do a good Solo movie if they're still interesting in continuing that thread (I doubt it, at least not theatrically.) or better yet, a Lando movie!

Oh yeah, a Lando movie from Taika Waititi would be awesome. Would we do it with Donald Glover or Billy Dee Williams? Or we could just do it with both, start with a framing story with BDW, and then do flashbacks with Donald Glover.
