t.o.s fans when did you like tng as much as tng original.

I thought Clemons was a stereotypical bumpkin and Offenhouse was a stereotypical greedy jerk. That being said, Picard and especially Riker were condescending jerks themselves through most of the episode.

I agree that I'm glad it improved from there.

I will say, "The Neutral Zone" wasn't the worst season finale that the show produced. That dubious honor goes to season 2s "Shades Of Grey", which is just a preposterous clip show and one of the worst episodes ever produced.
Im pretty sure Shades Of Grey was because of a writers strike or somethin

For me: NEVER.

TOS is still the best and the version that still holds up as rewatchable and still entertaining after 50+ years. Yes, it has a few clunker eps. but with the exception of TOS S3 - "And The Children Shall Lead", I can still sit though them and be entertained on some level.

For me, TNG hasn't aged well, and I honestly can't sit through a lot of it's episodes - especially if they are from Season 1 or Season 2. (YMMV of course ;))

Writer's strike was end of season 1/beginning of season 2. Not end of season 2.

As for liking TNG I enjoyed from season 1: 11001001, Home Soil, Arsenal of Freedom. Q Who was the first episodes of TNG that blew me away. I still would rather watch TOS than TNG but I like both of 'em.

Due to the nature of how I was introduced to Star Trek, for a long time I thought TNG was the only Star Trek show. It wasn't until the show ended and Generations came out that I had an inkling that the Enterprise on TNG wasn't the first, nor that Picard hadn't been her first captain. I actually remember getting confused about the plot early on, and drawing pictures of Worf going down to fix the deflector controls on the "new and improved" Enterprise (which in my mind was the same ship as from TNG just redesigned and refitted). It's funny this last point, as it could be why I prefer the refit Enterprise to the TOS ship; not only was it the perfected version of the TOS ship, it was an easier concept to grasp because the Enterprise-B had been the Enterprise-D refit in my young childhood mind, until my Dad explained to me the lineage and history of the Enterprise, and of Star Trek itself.

TL/DR: I saw TNG first, then TOS. So I watched them out of order with some misconceptions early on that needed to be corrected.

I watched it every week and couldn't wait for the next episode, but it did not really become "my" star trek until the third season.
