It doesn't make a lot of difference. Their content is rapidly becoming less Science Fiction orientated anyway so it doesn't matter what the name of the channel is.

Why not just call it the Fantasy Channel, or something along those lines? Syfy still sounds like scifi.

I think it's stupid, which means it's right in line with the rest of the moronic decisions from that network.

The Fantasy Channel sounds like a softcore pornography channel, which wouldn't be too far from the truth for the UK version at least.

They should have kept SciFi or completely changed the name. Changing the spelling but not the pronunciation is a stupid half step.

After this Friday I'll have no reason to watch this stupid channel anyway, so I really don't give a shit what they call themselves. But SyFy is just really stupid.

I don't understand the change. I suppose the majority of their programming isn't sci fi anyway, so in a way this would be like Froot Loops, where is sounds like fruit but isn't.

But I don't see where they think there's a geek stigma with their network seeing as how most of it is just repeats of shows that originally aired on other networks or cheap straight-to-DVD movies. G4 probably has a bigger nerd image.

It's a dumb name for a TV channel, but it would still be the least of their problems if they changed it.

dumb name, ugly logo, and Friday is the last episode of nBSG, which leaves Eureka the only show I try to watch on the channel anyway.

I can't respond to the poll since the change actually doesn't bother me at all. As long as they produce great shows, I don't care what they call themselves.
