This talking point gets brought up quite a bit, but at least in the case of the first movie, there's a salt mine in Kansas that holds a master of it.
I've also heard that Spielberg also has a master of ANH. It might be difficult getting him to let go of his copy though...
It goes without saying that just because this is Star Wars, it doesn't mean that this set is going to be the best looking Blu-ray release of all time. So, temper your expectations. That said, we do expect a lot from George Lucas and THX when it comes to cutting edge home video technology. I'm happy, then, to report that, for the most part, these films look wonderful. Not all of them might be described as "reference quality," whatever that means—although Episode III probably qualifies—but the transfers/restorations the films have been given represent an exponential leap in picture refinement, integrity, and clarity from previous DVD releases. While watching The Complete Saga this weekend there were several instances where I felt compelled to rewind and just bask in how beautiful certain scenes look in high definition.
Apparently the whole ordeal was due to changes demanded by the MPAA. The PG-13 rating was created after the original film, and when Lucas submitted the special edition cut to the MPAA he had to change the scene to avoid a PG-13 by not having Han shoot first. So at least one thing is not Lucas' fault, and this may explain the shirt.
Okay, I have no idea if the following is true or not. I found this while going through tvtropes.

Yeah. I don't believe it. First off, there would be far more than just that one source. Lucas would have explained this 15 years ago. I don't see him changing a film just to avoid a higher rating. Sith was PG-13, and that didn't seem to bother him.
Further, if Vader breaking someone's neck after torturing him and a bloody alien arm being cut off don't get you PG-13, Han shooting first won't. I don't think the ratings board cares what the motivation of a violent act in a film is, just that it occurred.
Did they also edit all the scenes in ROTS where Yoda and Obi-Wan were slicing up clones right and left.
Vader is interrogating the Rebel (the one he eventually breaks the neck of)

In fact i'd say any rating board that assesses simply on the act itself is pretty pointless.
The PG-13 rating was created in 1984, for Temple of Doom.Having said that, looking at some recent films that are PG-13 (like Iron Man) maybe Star Wars should be PG-13. In fact, I'm surprised that ESB wasn't given the rating as well, given the number of adult themes in that film (Han being tortured, Luke having his arm cut off, ect.).
So, in another forum, someone tells me that the dvd deleted scenes aren't included in the blu-ray sets?
Anyone with the set cares to confirm?
The deleted scenes are only included in the special 9-disc set containing both the OT and PT. You can buy the PT-only set, or the OT-only set, but those will not contain the deleted scenes.
The deleted scenes that were included in the 2 disc prequel releases are not included in this set.
There's some nice gems in there - not seen all yet - but the quality varies. Some are near mute or have the wrong voices.
