Survivors cancelled?

Apologies if this is already being discussed, but anyone know if the rumour is true? Has the BBC canned Survivors after 2 series?

Real shame, season one had flaws but the second year was loads better. I did figure they'd come to a point where they could end it, or carry it on, so it's probably had a better ending than most.

Abbie found her son, and the group found a vaccine should the virus mutate...on the downside we'll never know what happened to Tom. I guess I'll choose to beieve he made it to the Island and killed all the conspiritors before dying of his injuries!)

I've just started watching the series on BBC Canada, and I'm quite enjoying it. Glad to hear there IS a Series 2 to look forward to. :)

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!

They'd BETTER not cancel this. I love it!

OH, :censored::censored::censored:! Wiki reports that it was indeed canned.

Pardon me while I sulk in the corner.

It's true, BBC confirmed it last night. It's a shame, it would have been nice to have 1 more series to finish off the story.

From Digital Spy

"The BBC is committed to making a broad range of varied and ambitious drama, but in order to achieve this we do have to move on from some pieces in order to allow new work to come through - after two series, Survivors will not be returning," a spokeswoman said.

BBC One's post-apocalyptic series was given a roasting by critics in its second six-part run after a well-received first outing in 2008.

Yeah, like I said I guess they did resolve an awful lot of storylines at the end of S2, still a few things dangling though.

^Were the reviews for series 2 that bad. I thought series 2 worked better than the first for the most part. But I guess enough was tied up that I don't mind too much.

I disliked a lot of S2. I much preferred if it was a series where people were surviving this virus and trying to rebuild and just cope with what happened rather the S2 where we needed some kind of evil conspiracy and secret bases and all that junk.

I remember the original and have yet to see the new version. Sounds to me like they lost the plot somewhere along the way. Didn't they already do all that on Jericho?

PS. This should be in the SF/F board. When I first saw the subject line, and the fact it's in TV & Media, I automatically assumed we were talking about Survivor, the competition series.

They did a similar set up to the original in the first series, but they added a conspiracy element so it wasn't the same, they did things quite differently from the original though and I think that's the way to do it if you remake anything.

Damn! Just finished S2 opener. I've got 2-3 on the DVR and I even hooked the wife on it!
Is BBC a Fox Affiliate? :(
