Survivor: Redemption Island Discussion (Spoilers)

I'm getting so fucking bored with Russell's behaviour. I used to be his biggest fan the last two seasons but he's again not trying to adapt, but instead doubling down with his bullshit. How much more fucking proof do you need to understand that doesn't fucking work, you idiot? The goateed redneck on the other hand, although I don't like him at all is pretty good at this imo, he very nicely outplayed Russell in multiple ways there.

I've never liked Gollum for exactly that reason. The guy is way more impressed with himself than he has any business being. He's not as strategically smart as he thinks he is. He just tries the same thing over and over again and alienates so many people that he has no chance of actually winning. Lots of people can get down to the final few players in the game for a variety of reasons, and not all of it because you played a smart game.

I love that Farmer Ralph with the hair-sweater was just wandering around collecting rocks and found the hidden immunity idol. Though given that both idols were easily found without clues this time around, maybe the Survivor staff needs to try a little harder to hide them next time. It was well-played on his part when he confronted Gollum on stealing the hidden immunity idol clue. Gollum was trying to put him down, but you can tell he was thrown off his game.

Francisco is out of her mind if she really believes she has a chance of lasting on Redemption Island and winning Survivor. She'd have to defeat every person coming on the island after her for weeks, who will have had better food and living conditions than her.

Agent Orange Undies continues to be a delight to watch. I'm so glad they didn't vote him out, because the guy is pure comedy gold. I'm pretty sure getting crabs on your spear is a euphemism for something. The crying over having his integrity questioned after knowing these people for all of three days while doing things that make him look insane was bizarre, as was the pointless attempt at Survivor seppuku for simply losing a challenge at which he didn't do badly (it was Natalie's inability to open the box that lost it for them). He's really crazy to think of Frankenfurter as his "nemesis," like she did something horrible to him. I think I'm going to adopt "You do something to the United States, you get the gorilla. You do something to the family, you get the lion" as my family motto.

I can understand being upset at Fabio Mk. II for congratulating the other team when he should be pissed at losing, but it's nothing that hasn't happened on Survivor a hundred times before. I think he was genuinely just being a good sport, not trying to cultivate friendships on the other side for the eventual merge. If Rob got rid of him mainly for that, then it's a stupid reason to get rid of a strong player so early on. But if he got rid of him to also break up his budding relationship and strong team with that blond-haired forgettable girl, I guess I can understand that (especially given Rob's teaming up with Amber in the past), although it would have made more sense to go after her this early.

Great strategic job on Rob's part getting everyone to do his bidding and having a two-layered voting scheme. Plus, controlling loose cannon Philip by waiting until the last minute to talk to him.

Fernando will not last long, but I doubt the firt few people will. I don't understand why they can't figure out when someone will come back from RI. Also, why can't they figure out how many people will come back, didn't Jeff say only one? I wonder if there is an imunity idol on RI? That Ralph guy is annoying, it's funny to see two rednecks go after each other. Russel is stupid for using the same strategy. I don't think the "social game" should play a factor IMO. That's why I like Russel. He should have won the first time around, but people let there personal feelings get in the way. It is increasingly becoming a problem. Russel should have figured that out, so unless he's got a plan in the back of his head, he won't win. I'd love to see it, but people are too sensitive.

Ralph tells Russel that the clue is for everyone to share, I disagree, it's up for grabs to anyone. This isin't a socialist state, it's every man for himself. Quit bieng such pussies and go out there and fight for your chance at the million. Fuck making friends. The social aspect is bullshit, everyone wants to act all buddy buddy, but when their ass is on the line they will stab thier so called "best friend" in the back. I mean how long do you really know these people?

Rob is full of shit too, he gives those speaches about team work and bla bla bla, but in reality, he is blaming Philip for losing the challenge. I don't care what you say, if it's a team challenge, the team lost. It's rediculous to blame one individual, anyone can fuck up. Rob is just as much a back stabber as Russel, he's just nicer about it. He was bieng a dick about Matt shaking hands, but I think it did have more to do with the alliaence he had with blondie.

Phillip will go soon, but I really wish that Cristinia would have held on to the idol, I don't think she was in any real danger, but Rob did a good job of convincing her that she was. Rob also got Philip to vote for her. I'd love to see Cristinia turn the tables on Rob and get him off, but i'm sort of hoping him and Russel will make it to the merge so they will be at each others throats.

Don't forget that Ralph already had the real idol at his point! Nothing he said there he meant seriously imo, he was just setting Russell up to look even less trustworthy among his tribe. I thought that was masterful.

^I'm somewhat ambivalent about that play. Ralph could have just let others confront Russell about the idol. It's risky to paint a target on your back unless you're set on using the idol early (the "get them to vote for you and then vote out somebody else" play).

As for Russell: you really can't discount the social game when talking about him. He gets to the end because he is the social goat who nobody will vote to give the million.

At least Ralph had the sense not to tell anyone he found the idol- he might be a better player than he's letting on.

They really need to start hiding those idols a little better. I used to think it was just that Russell was good at finding them, but when two new players are able to find them without any clues, it tells me the idols can't be hidden too well.

Both Russell and Rob are starting to annoy me. Russell's tribe seems to be on to his plan (not that hard, since it's the same old plan), but no one in Rob's tribe seems to question him. They need to keep him for the challenges, but I wish Rob's tribemates would question his motives a little.

I think Russell is doomed. The only reason he's still around is that his tribe hasn't lost an immunity challenge yet. Aside from his sidekicks, everyone knows not to trust him and that he's a threat. They're not going to keep him around for long.

I can understand the reasons behind breaking up Matt/Andrea before they got too powerful, but I think I would have gotten rid of Andrea first and kept Matt for at least one more challenge. Matt also seemed the more malleable of the two, so if Andrea had gotten voted out, I think he would have gotten over it faster and fallen back in line, whereas it looks like Andrea's going to take it pretty personally next week.

But I think Zapatera's going to tribal council next week anyway.

I think they make it easy to find the idol because they want someone like Russel to find it so it will create drama.

It looked that way since they were talking about a blindside or something like that. Why would they be talking about who they are voting out if there was no council? Way to give it awat CBS.

Yeah, seems like that's standard marketing these days. Nobody wants to preserve twists anymore.

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed by the lack of ambition in Ometepe. If I'd been there and was part of Rob's group when he started talking about voting out Matt, I think I might have actually turned and gone to Matt and Andrea and warned them about what Rob was planning, then I would have taken Matt/Andrea and gone to Kristina, and the four of us would have blindsided Rob and destroyed his alliance.

But apparently nobody else in that tribe is actually interested in playing their own game. :p
