Survivor (Fall 2016)

I'm glad Jess is gone, but, unfortunately, the manner of her leaving probably means she'll be in a later season.

I wouldn't mind that. She was one of the least annoying ones.

So much for David's promise to Hannah. He said he'd use the idol on her, but made a snap decision to use it on Ken...? WTF was he thinking - that he'd prefer Ken to owe him a favor rather than Hannah?

And from the preview, it looks like the reward-stealing advantage is going to be used.

I wouldn't assume Jess is coming back just because of how she left, we never saw Butch back. They bring back the guys who are most entertaining on the camera.

David used the idol on Ken because somebody lied to Adam that Ken was the target and he repeated it.

I wonder what the Legacy advantage is. Based on the size of the jury, maybe jury member elimination?

I think Zeke ordered his "army" to lie to David's side and tell them they were voting Ken, so that David would use his idol on Ken instead of Hannah, the real target. I'm honestly surprised that someone on Zeke's side didn't change their vote after the split to vote out Zeke. Hannah is not as big a threat as Zeke is, so I would think someone like Will or Jay would jump on the opportunity to get Zeke out when they had the chance. I guess it's the age-old Survivor fear of turning on your alliance and then being on the bottom of another alliance, but what did Jay have to lose? He especially is already at the bottom.

The person who really made out at tribal council was Ken. Safe from being voted out, safe from rock picking, and now gets the legacy advantage. I really like him, so I'm not complaining!

I don't really like one "side" better than the other at this point. I am liking individuals from each side. High on the list are Ken, Zeke, Hannah, Adam, David. I did like Jess a bit, and I'm on the fence about Adam. Sometimes I like him, other times he's a complete idiot.

I'm not liking Bret at all. What was with his sour attitude at tribal council? What a jerk.

According to Jessica's exit interview, David was being very aggressive in an attempt to get Zeke's group to vote for him so he could play his idol. They cut that bit out, so Bret and Zeke come across as unnecessarily hostile. Edit manipulation so you'll root for David.

I'm not really buying Will's argument that he needs to have a big move to build a resume. People vote for the person they like more, not necessarily the strategic mastermind. Look at Natalie vs. Russell in S19, Michele vs. Aubrey last season. But it is hilarious that Will complains that he hasn't gotten credit for any moves, makes a move (he DID flip on Zeke) and then gets upstaged by Adam playing an idol.

I can't remember any other season when so many idols were played on behalf of someone else.

Ken, oh dear. What a silly move, that was handed to you on a silver platter. Things worked out but damn son.

Great move giving the idol to Hannah and knocking arguably the most powerful player out of the game.

Things are picking up after a lackluster start!

Also can't remember a season where so many idols were played on the player that did not have the most votes. Based on the way votes were stacked it looks like Will voted for Zeke after all.

Now Jay is left with some pretty solid allies, and the only idol in the game.

Will played into a pretty big Millennial stereotype, acting like you're entitled to be taken seriously. He's off the list of players I can imagine winning this game and on the list of players who will be taken to the final three as an easy beat.

Who's left who could win? David, Jay, Bret, Sunday I think have a decent shot. Hannah and Will, probably not. Adam probably goes back on the 'winnable' list after the good will moves he made today but might have trouble reaching final three. Ken probably comes off the 'Winnable' list after his idiotic move today.

Did something happen to the reward challenge, or was the schedule changed so there were two tribal councils tonight?

Not that I'm unhappy with either boot; I don't like either of the ones who were voted out.

So:

David
Adam
Jay
Hannah
Bret
Ken

Best TC cases seem to be top 3 so wouldn't be shocked if finals were bottom 3. Interesting to see how Jay plays without the idol of if a new idol is placed now.

Since next week is the finale, I doubt there will be any more idols. Real ones, at any rate, since the preview showed one of them making a fake idol.

I wish they'd take the number down to 16 so they could just have one elimination per week and then a final four. Endgame seems so rushed.

If they made a fake idol might mean somebody found a real idol.

Well, ever since Bob made that artistic, convincing fake a long while back, it's been one of those "all's fair" deceptive moves that some people have used.

Looks like Amazing Race's season will finally air starting in April, and season 30 is casting but filming has not started.

Rumors are if ratings don't pick up in season 29 there may be no more seasons after that.

Thank you for letting us know. I've been somewhat resentful that they've held this season back and put that MacGyver reboot on in its place. How do they expect a show to improve its ratings if they won't even broadcast it?

What a predictable soap opera. Of course they're going to vote for the person who turns on the waterworks about his mom (not saying cancer isn't something awful, but if I had a relative who was dying and I loved that relative, I wouldn't be gallivanting off to be on a game show).

It's a shame David didn't win. He deserved to.

As for next season, apparently it's more returning cast... it will be good to cheer Tai on again, and if those clips are anything to go by, I'm wondering if Joe gets another chance?

I'm happy with the winner. I was rooting for Adam or Jay, closely followed by David or Bret. I could have lived with any of them winning, honestly.

I absolutely loved how well Jay took his boot. Hope he gets to play again.

Adam was winning anyway. He had Chris and Jay for sure, and likely Bret, Zeke, Will, Sunday. Ken maybe gets David and Jessica and Hannah maybe Michelle. Taylor, I have no idea how he votes. And I don't think Adam planned to even mention it, based on how he passed on a perfectly good opening earlier, but when Ken started talking about how he was playing for his daughter Adam's Mom naturally came up.

Also I understand why he left - it had been his dream for decades and his Mom told him to. They planned to watch it together and have something to look forward to when life was so bleak. Had he known she would die an hour after he got back maybe he doesn't go, but I don't fault him at all for the choice that he made.

I'm not sad Adam won. He made a lot of mistakes but he also played a stronger game, he threaded the needle between making big moves and not being perceived as a threat and managed the remaining population to make him persistently n-2th biggest threat, until n became 3. Would have preferred David.

Just looked at cast list for season 34. I approve of most of these. A few huge names coming back, a few who are considered greatest players of all time. Lots of 3rd and 4th time players. They went all out.

What are the odds Sandra makes it past the first tribal council?

I don't remember at least half of them. There are a couple I don't recognize at all, so I must not have watched their season (I've missed maybe three or four).

If Tai gets to babysit another chicken, who will he name it after this time?
