In retrospect splitting the vote would have been the right move, but I imagine they were afraid that Joe might approach the girls and vote Fishback. With split votes that may have been enough. As it is he must have tipped Kelley off that they were all voting for her.

I suspect they just got arrogant and it never occured to them.

There is so much that happens that never makes it on screen. I just can't imagine all of those experienced players never even thinking about splitting the vote. there had to have been at least one discussion about it somewhere. My guess is that it was a combination of being cocky and feeling like they didn't need to, and a concern about Joe joining with the girls to get out Stephen.

Joe is just a monster at challenges. Poor guy, the second he loses he's out. One would think.

    Great season so far.

I don't get why everybody targeted Wigglesworth. They talked like she was this big threat but most of the game she's been on the surprised minority side of the vote.

Looks like Amazing Race is going back to single U turns. I think that's dumb, I thought they went to the double U turn because in Amazing Race you shouldn't be able to just vote someone out, but that's basically what the U turn is if there aren't two of them.

If you remember, Kelly Wigglesworth was a challenge monster toward the end of her season. She pretty well won everything... except for the million dollars.

Of course it's entirely possible that a lot happened that they're just not showing because they have a different narrative they want to tell.

I hadn't known it was a 2-hour episode tonight, and not only did Joe squeak by, the two people I especially wanted gone were voted off! :D

So much for that "advantage"... he should have used it to cast both votes for Joe.

I'm not watching Amazing Race this time. No point since I'd already missed so much of it.

I don't get why they didn't target Joe. Ok, so I guess they thought Jeremy/Kimmi/Tasha/Stephen was a solid alliance and didn't want to give it 50%. That's why they tried to split the vote with Abi, they really thought that everybody was voting Joe.

But no alliance is going to matter if Joe wins out the immunity challenges then sweeps the final vote. They just barely beat him in this challenge. Their only hope may be is if there's a rope-cutting immunity. If Joe wins all the rest of immunities I can't wait to hear Stephen's speech.

Why, is Joe unable to cut a rope?

As for Stephen's speech, it's going to be hard to talk through a mouthful of sour grapes.

I mean, a challenge where everybody answers trivia questions, and if they get it right they choose whose rope to cut, and three cuts means you're out. Joe can cut a rope but he can't stop other people from cutting his.

Well, no worries about that now.

Dammit, with Joe gone I've got no one left to cheer for. :scream:

If Crabby Maria gets to the end, let her get zero votes. What a bitch.

I was hoping they'd vote off Abi instead of Joe- she's the least deserving to be there and will probably make the finals because of that. Now Spencer and Jeremy are kind of screwed. Jeremy still has an idol, but that can only help so much.

I still don't know why Jeremy wasted one of his idols on Stephen several tribal councils ago when it was clear most of the tribe was hell-bent on voting him off. All it did was give Stephen a one tribal reprieve and it may end up costing Jeremy a chance at the finals.

They didn't show anyone talking to Keith before the vote- I wonder how much effort either side put into securing Keith's vote since he kind of cast a throw-away vote for Tasha. He could be the deciding vote next week.

Anyone else having trouble streaming the episode on CBS.com? It's freezing after after five seconds or so.

If this is the streaming quality I'm going to get with Star Trek...

Edit: Looks like the problem was on my end, just had to unplug and replug my modem. Weird since that hasn't happened in a while. It's an interesting risk they took voting out Joe. They're risking everything on Tasha picking them over Abi/Kelly/Kimmi. On one hand, Tasha can beat them in the finals more easily than Jeremy/Spencer/Keith. On the other hand, that's exactly why they would not take Tasha into the finals but Jeremy and Spencer would.

I'm impressed by Keith at challenges. More than once he came in second to Joe and then he's the one to beat him.

And both sides have an idol. Next week should be extremely interesting. Seems like Tasha is the swing vote and has the exact same choice the guys did this week. The guys they can beat vs the guys who will take them to the end. But there's also idols in play on both sides. I have no idea what's going to happen next week.

Kimmi seems to be 'Most improved player' though. Her first season might have been one of the early worst played games ever, but this season she just has a knack for getting in the majority without drawing any attention to herself. Nobody even blamed her for not eating meat in the meat eating challenge this time.

So happy Abi is out. Only good players left. Also good to finally see players defensively go after the player everybody would bring over them.

No idea who's going to win.

Big relief Logan & Chris didn't win Amazing Race. Not only do they make a career of invading people's privacy, they were genuinely the least likable, most aggravating team. Can't believe they made it to the last episode, but easily the least respectable people on the show.

Well, I should know better than to watch this show when I'm tired. I slept through the immunity challenge and woke up in time to see Crabby Maria voted out.

What happened to Tasha? Did she almost drown?

She was running out of energy out in the water, and was taking in water so she felt like she was drowning and had to call in the rescue team. She was shaken up but she was okay.

Well, this wasn't the result I hoped for. I really wanted Kelly to win, or Spencer.

But that tied vote was bizarre. Wouldn't it have just been less convoluted (and fairer) to have the non-protected tie participants do a fire-making competition? Why should someone who didn't get any votes at all have to be the one to risk being voted off?

I'm glad Jeremy won, I think he was dominant the entire season. He was never really in danger of being voted out, he had good relationships with every other player. Though I think Tasha played just as strong a game and maybe was perceived as a coattail-grabber because she is female. I would have liked to see the jury recognize that a bit more. It seems like every time in Survivor a man and a woman have a tight alliance at the end, the man gets all the strategic credit.

The whole Keith thing was more an edge case of the process. In most cases, it would have been rocks, just like it was with Tyson. But there have never been three people protected by immunity at the same time a tie vote happened. They can't just make up new rules on the spot because they don't like how the established rules worked out. Maybe next time they'll have an alternate plan for tie breaks that takes the edge case into account, but that's just how the established rules worked in that very unlikely case that came up.

In this oddball case where there's only one possible other candidate, maybe there should be a fire making competition just like there is in the final four. But in general, I like that rocks are the consequence of ties. Before rocks, it was previous votes. The first time Jeff got voted out, it was because Kimmi blabbed during a challenge that she had voted for Jeff. That wasn't fair either, but the threat of rocks makes it so there's almost never, ever ties. After Butch drew the rock in season four it was over twenty more seasons before there was another tie. I like that just because it forces people to have a majority and not just win with a tie.

Just googled 'Survivor 32 cast'. Looks like it's all first time players, but one Big Brother player. Somebody I don't dislike but also don't find that interesting a choice.

I'm happy with the outcome. Probably the best final three contestants ever, though I would have been equally happy with Wentworth up there instead of Tasha.

I was a little disappointed with the jury questions. The one time Abi-Maria is actually supposed to cut loose and bring the crazy and she asks a reasonable and constructive question? What is this treachery?

A lot of people are getting on Jeremy for pandering to the jury with the baby reveal, but hey, I thought it was masterful the way he saved it to the last possible moment. I bet Spencer's heart sank when he started telling the story. But it's not as if Spencer wasn't going to the same well multiple times himself with all his "I'm a real boy now" attempts to show the jury that he's gotten an emotion chip installed.

Not too keen on next season being a return to the Brains/Brawn/Beauty trope (which was a fiasco last time), because the people on the teams started buying into the hype and promoting themselves in the confessionals based on those categories (at the prodding of the producers) instead of just being themselves, and it comes off as super douchy and arrogant. Plus, it only serves to highlight when the supposed "brains" team is a complete disaster strategically and in puzzles. Hopefully they'll avoid that next season.

Apparently Vytas wasn't at the reunion because he violated his contract and started posting to Facebook or doing something prohibited before the show had started airing, so he wasn't invited back. No big loss, though.

This has been one of the best seasons of the show, and I've loved how the producers have kept things fresh and the contestants really brought their A-Game this season since they felt they were also playing for the fans that sent them there.

I might rank this season second only behind Heroes vs Villains. We've never seen a season where pretty much everybody knew how to play the game and everybody played well but nobody dominated.

Kelly's question got me thinking about 'pick a number' strategy from a game theory perspective. I've come to the conclusion the first player is best off picking '3' or '8' when there are three players.

If the first player picks '5', the second player then picks '7', encouraging the third player to pick '4'. First player only has 15% win chance.

First player picks 4, second player picks 8, encouraging third player to pick 3. First player only has 25% chance to win.

First player picks 3, second player then picks 9, encouraging third player to pick 4. First player has 30% chance to win.
