Survivor 20:Hero's vs Villians, live comentary

Except for that one teensy weensy little detail, it was a gutsy move...
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I don't think there is any question that this is the best season ever.

I knew they wouldn't tease that play and it not actually happen. was WAYYY too big of a thing for them to tease and not follow through on it actually being in the episode.

Next week should be interesting. I suppose the most likely scenario is the heroes getting blindsided a bit. Though I don't know, with allies like Parvati maybe he should flip!
If the Heroes do get blindsided, they'd be even more naive than they already appear. I'm pretty sure Sandra will try to clue them in on what's going on, but whether or not they believe her is another matter.

Which is why I'm surprised the Villians targeted Courtney instead of Sandra. Both have potential allies on the Heroes tribe, but Sandra strikes me as the sneakier of the two.

I don't understand J.T.'s reasoning behind giving Russell the idol. If they do merge next week, the two tribes will be even. At that point, having an idol to use against the Villians tribe would have given the Heroes an advantage and there wouldn't be any need to swing Russell over to their side. Stupid move.

I would have gotten rid of Sandra, too. She's a much bigger threat than Courtney because:

1) Er, she's already won SURVIVOR once.

2) If she makes it the jury vote, the fact that she has a husband in Afghanistan might sway some votes.

According to this week's secret scenes, Amanda was already willing to align with Courtney, so she would have been open to hearing Courtney out about Russell. Sandra, on the other hand, is trusted so little that the Heroes have already mutually agreed that they would target her first in a merge.

Plus, Russell was probably weary with the idea that Courtney was closer to Parvati than himself. He's not completely oblivious to Parvati's game-play (just somewhat oblivious).

It would have been a 5-5 tie that would have gone to a tiebreaker most likely. So JT would have been safe but another hero could have gone depending how the tiebreaker played out. So it would have been 50-50 which tribe took a dominate position.

If the idol ploy would have worked then Russell would have jumped to the heroes giving them a 6-4 advantage after the merge. The heroes then pick off all the girls and then Russell.

Now the teams are even but Russell has the immunity idol and the heroes think he played it. Plus Pavorti has a immunity idol and just one person knows.

So potentially at the next council there could be three idols played. The challenge winner that everyone knows, Russell's that the villians know about and Pavorti's that hardly anyone knows about.

I have to admit that Russell played good granted that he clearly has advandage that no one from the Heroes tribe has seen him play. Jt would never have given Russell his idol if he had seen Russell in Samoa.

That's true. But there's also one huge disadvantage in that for Russell: he doesn't know he lost season 19, he has no real feedback about what worked and what didn't and what he could do to improve his chances of winning. If you look at Parvati or Amanda - they have the experience of two full seasons; Russell is kind a newbie insofar as he doesn't really know how he did in season 19.

Well the Heroes are officially fucked, and by a man they are now unable to vote out if they find out how badly they got played.

Pity, but you gotta live with the decisions you make.

Russell will make it past the heroes but then there will be a woman's alliance and he'll be gone.

Pavarti wins is my guess.

Mhm. I don't agree about the girls' alliance thing - I don't think Parvati has to kick out Russell at any cost, imo she'd probably be ok taking him to finals. But she has to be considered the favourite right now.

While I think Pavarti would most likely beat Russell, it would be a split vote and no sure thing.

Parvarti against anyone else could be unanimous. Sh'd be wise to dump him, even Russell would agree at the end.

Parvati is a very smart player and I don't think she'll toss Russell away. I think she will try to use Russell as the 'fall guy'. Parvati will not win the jury votes based on her personality, play in previous seasons, and her perception among the remaining contestants. There's a reason why JT gave the HII over to the opposite tribe with wanting her voted off. They recognize her as the biggest threat and manipulator alive in the game.

Is she going to be able to convince a jury to vote for her and give her ANOTHER $1million? I think she can use Russell and build him into the biggest villain in the game and his personality and play-style is likely to fit that perception. Right now the Jury IMO would be split 1-1 between Russell/Parvati. Coach would vote Russell after Russell went to great lengths to show Coach he was sticking with him and not voting for him (even signed the vote), while Courtney thought she was going to be able to get in with Parvati, but Russell refused to go along with it.

The whole JT thing is awesome for Parvati because she can now soil the entire Heroes side on Russell. She tell them how he immediately came to her and was saying how stupid and foolish JT and the rest of them are and how he laughed about the letter. How he said JT has now made himself into one of the biggest fools in the history of the game.

I think she will get rid of Russell before the final tribal council. There are a couple girls who would probably do worse in a jury vote for the million (Danielle, for instance), and Parvati can more easily say that she "controlled the game" if she can show the jury that she was able to knock out Russell.

I read in Probt's blog that they warned everybody beforehand that there was a very good reason that Russell was given a spot

True. Specially, Probst says that they warned the cast that there was a very good reason why Russell was included as one of the five most notorious villains on Survivor. Though, I wonder about how Probst phrased that warning (given that Rupert made a point about including in the letter how Russell can prove that he's not really a villain). It seems as if the Heroes thought Probst was lying or exaggerating.
