Survivor 20:Hero's vs Villians, live comentary

If Russell makes it to the jury vote he'll probably lose again, but at least he makes Survivor even more interesting by his crazy play.

Oh, he's the most entertaining player in a long time for sure, no doubt about that. Love or hate him but you have to admit he's damn charismatic.

The way Russell plays is PERFECT to get to the finals.

His tactics and manipulation are unmatched and the side effect of his aggressive play is that everyone wants to be up against him in the finals.

But getting to the finals is one thing. Winning when you are there is another.

I can't see that there is any way he can win this against ANYONE that is left if he makes it or not.

He goings to lose, just like he did in Samoa.

If he does it's going to be another case of a bunch of whiny babies who can't take that they get their asses handed to them.
 Yeah, that's the only reason. If you paid for an education, get your money back.

Can't believe Rupert dodged a bullet twice in a row, got to give respect for the Idol switcheroo he pulled.

Great to see Candice get the boot, honestly though, what did she expect?

Danielle had an awesome meltdown, loved it. I would have liked to see her remain in the game though.

Jerri continues to play not with her head or heart, but with the severe daddy issues she has.

Colby, just useless. In challenges, in strategy, in everything.

Think this might be Sandra's to lose now. Parvarti doesn't seem so menacing without Russell backing her.

Part of winning the game is not alienating the jury. As a self-described master of SURVIVOR, Russell should know that. It does you no good to get to the very end if you've gone out of your way to piss off everyone around you.

One of Russell's fatal flaws is that he thinks everyone thinks like he does: that the sneakiest, most cutthroat player deserves to win. Unfortunately for him, the jury is never composed of Russell clones, just people whom he has made no effort to win over.

Russell's biggest fan is Russell--which is why he will never win.

The Jury on survivor is useless IMO. Last time it came down to three people. What's the point if you pick one out of the three? Most people vote with aliences or who they hate the least. The Russian version, they have one last challenge. There is no jury. Besides most jury members are just pissed because they are not the winners. That was definately the case last time, they voted out Russel because they were winey pussies and voted for a girl who didn't deserve it

Newsflash: it's a social game.

Aware of that, but if your going on Survivor you should be aware that people can and will be dishonest. The should be more objective and pick the best Survivor, not thier "best friend." The game is outwit outlast and outplay. The challenges should brides as the overiding factor instead of what someones personal opinion. Why should someone win because you like them better than the other person? You should win on merit and how well you played. These people take bieng voted off personel, it's a fracking game for a million dollars. Of course your going to lie. Someone mentioned poker, do you get pissed if someone bluffs, yeah a little, but you realize it's part of the game and move on. If your smart you'll bluff back and win. Peoples personal feelings take this game hostage sometimes. All of that bieng said, I doubt Russel will win because he just dosent know when to shut up.

By far the best season..and pavarti, unless she wins immunity, is the next to go...Russell (who has jerri in his back pocket) will get colby/rubert to join him and vote her off...my prediction...I think either rupert or colby will win the show because Sandra/Russell hate each other..will be their ruin

You lost me when you used the word "objective."

This isn't a game about formulas and equations.

You write fan fic and you don't use spell check?

Anyways, I disagree with everything you posted above.

BTW, you seem to be confusing Parvati with Havarti.

Last episode was fun to watch because the 2 castaways that got the boot shouldn't been invited for this all star season at all. Candice casting was total failure. She pretty much makes the same mistake as in her first season. Betraying her tribe by dumping ship when they needed her the most. Rupert and Colby were spot on when they said she killed the Heroes tribe by voting out Amanda.
Danielle was playing a decent game but her biggest mistake is aligning with Russell. Russell is a loose cannon period. Anyway Russell will not win after his display. He lost Danielle jury vote in the progress and if he targets Parvati next. He will lose her jury vote also. Russell is done. If i was one of the remaining castaways. I would take him to the end because he has zero chance winning just like in Samoa:p.
Rupert surprised me a lot and it was a good episode for him. Calling out Russell and putting the rock in his pockets.
Anyway there is now 6 left and the end game is now kicking in. The player with greatest power now is probarly Sandra because she has the idol. She could use it to save herself if needed or give it to someone to further her game.

The game is outwit outlast and outplay.

Granted, but it's not just in the challenges and so on that those three things matter. You have to outplay and outwit people on several levels, and Russel is clearly failing in the social game. He's outplaying them, sure, but he's not outwitting *anyone* at this point. EVERYONE knows he's a snake. He's TOO obvious. His only game power is against the people still in the game -- the jury, OTOH, will not reward him for screwing them over this time, either.

People keep talking as if there is no interpersonal aspect to the game, and only tactics matter. There's a bigger picture here -- and PEOPLE count.

In a couple years I'd like to see the next Survivor that brings back previous contestants be "Winners vs Losers"

Contestants who finished 1st in one tribe vs those who finished 2nd in the other tribe with the prize being $5mil.

Let's say we have 16 (8 on each side) I think you're more likely to get some of the previous winners who may have refused to come back if the prize is now $5mil, and the runner-ups would like to have won so I think it's easy to fill those tribes up.

What I'd do is when each tribe is formed they would all draw chips from a bucket for each tribe. There would be 3 chips with a 0, 3 with a 1, and 2 with a 2.

What they would signify is how many tribal councils that person is protected from. The players would be told they can keep the information to themselves or reveal it.

I see it as a kind of way to make some interesting alliances early on, create drama at tribal council, and also a way to keep Richard Hatch (who should be post-probation at that point) in the game a couple weeks ;)

I understand the desire to eliminate the final jury from the equation, but that final jury vote adds an interesting element to the game. It's a very interesting social question. What can you do or say to convince people who you screwed over to give you a million dollars?

In fact, the same element that keeps Russell from the million dollars also keeps him around longer. Most people would jump at the chance to have him next to them during a final jury vote, and yet those same people would probably kick his ass to the curb otherwise.

The interesting thing about how Russell plays the game is that it's been talked about a lot by the contestants in their interviews post being voted out that you'll see on zap2it or other places. They talk about how the game is changing and the element Russell brings.

I actually think if the show is still around 5 or 6 years from now you might have more people playing a Russell type game and thus have people on the jury at the end more willing to evaluate a player based on that then just on being butt-hurt that they got voted out.

The one thing Russell has going for him this season versus last season. Parvati is a very divisive player and people came into this game with cemented feelings about her. Russell is kind of blowing his chance though because of making himself a bigger 'dick' than she is a 'bitch'.

I think the only one on the jury who would vote for Russell right now is Coach. He's screwed over the rest of them more-so than Parvati has.

The ONLY person other than Russell that would deserve a vote to win is Parvati. No one else even comes close to deserving it. And, while Parvati is an amazing player, she's only around because of Russell. She would have been long gone were it not for Russell.

Sandra sloughed along and would get the pity/I dislike the other player votes and not for what she's done as a player. It's who the whiny babies vote for when they can't stand the fact that they got so badly outplayed. Not to mention they are hypocrits to the max as Probst pointed out this week in his blog.

Hell even Probst said Russell should have won last season.
