Surely something good happened to you today

My beloved Yeoman Randi has completed her cancer treatment. She's still in a bit of pain but she is recovering nicely.

Not that she would have it any other way, of course. She's a fighter. You can't keep a good DiMaggio down! :)

And at the risk of making this all about me (which I swore I'd never do), but...I owe this board a debt of gratitude that I can never repay. I would never have met Randi if not for this place. I love her with all of my heart, and she has been one of the greatest blessings I could have hoped for in my life. And I have THIS BOARD to thank for it!

I cannot overemphasize the awesomeness of this. Randi's not posting here anymore (although she does say hi ;) ) but the fact remains, I met the great love of my life, the (possible) future Mrs. Laser Beam, BECAUSE OF THIS BOARD. You have no idea how awesome that is to even SAY. :techman:

I mean, I'm sure that there have been a lot of couples who met here. Some succeeded, some didn't. I honestly don't know what the future holds for Randi and me. But I'm ever hopeful. :adore:

And let's be honest, we ALL miss the days when Randi would do the VOY caption contests. ;)

Seriously. Randi was the @LeadHead of her day. She may be retired from that life, but nobody could run a caption contest like she could!

DA WINNAS! :techman:

And I know I just said this, but I have to say it again. It is SO awesome that real life couples have met because of this board. I don't know if that's part of God's plan for Randi and me. It may be. It may also not be. But regardless, it still warms my heart that ANY real life partnerships have arisen because of this place. That is one of the most beautiful things I can even think of.

Congrats Mr. Laser Beam. May your significant other be healed and cured soon.

Today I had a good Day at my volunteer job at the bookstore and got a lot done.
I streamed an entire half-trilogy of Wolfenstein 3-D today where I streamed a prerecorded stream of me beating Gretyll Gross with just a machine gun and getting through that entire Episode with zero deaths and not a single use of the Gatlin Gun, plus in my stream there was a lot of reading of Scriptures and good books.

Also my PC was malfunctioning but was just fine when I shut it down properly and then switched it back on.

Also my Pastor friend got home safe from a vacation and I talked to him today and gave him a good report.

Also I watched someone play Ubisoft's SW Outlaws again and had fun participating in her chat.

This is going to sound ridiculous...

But my left hand has finally been detected by a bathroom paper towel dispenser. (I accidentally moved it under the sensor and it worked. Out of curiousity, I tried it again, and again... it worked each time!)

I can't remember the last time my left hand was detected by a device. I feel like I am actually whole again.

This may sound really small, but what the hell:

I learned that a Trek novel (Remembrance of Things Past) mentioned my favorite English Premier League soccer team, Liverpool FC. AND said that it continues to exist even in the 24th century!

It also mentions Liverpool's rivalry with Manchester United which is one of the greatest rivalries in the history of sports. (And definitely not a friendly one. )

Every small victory counts in life. Take all you can get.

I got a lot of stuff done today. Got my covid shot (at my own store!), and ramped up my preparations for the Germany trip - ordered euros, got an international phone plan, and got my Berlin-Munich train ticket.

Although when I walked into the AT&T store - for my phone plan - the guy takes one look at my Liverpool FC shirt and says "I'm sorry, that shirt's not allowed in here!"

(He was an Arsenal fan)
