For weeks now, my seat on our sofa, which is supposed to recline, kept getting stuck at the halfway point---just enough so that it was hard to get into, hard to sit upright, but still not reclining enough to bring your feet up. Since we eat dinner in front of the TV, it was really annoying.
This morning, hubby decided he was going to fix it himself. (me internally: oh no...). We flipped the entire sofa over (it's a 3-seater, and the end seats are recliners = fucking heavy) and we got to vacuum under it (cat hair city) and actually IN it, since the bottom is hollow. We balanced it on two of our dining chairs, which are really tall and hubby went to work on the mechanism inside the recliners. He found the problem, swapped some parts around (a mal-formed/worn down pin was screwing up the gears) and fixed it! Hooray!
Now I can recline and watch a show, or sit upright and read or eat, or whatever. Victory for the couch potato!
Hubby was very pleased with himself. He said, "This lockdown isn't so bad. I'm getting a lot done!"
Next on our list: change the kit in the upstairs toilet and mulch the yard.
