Surely something good happened to you today

A life without books is possible but not desirable.
My good thing today is a bit mean: an intolerably arrogant and rude colleague got pensioned off yesterday and as from today a very friendly young colleague takes over. The whole office is in partying mood

I must say that apple updated the os to 13 and my iPad didn't make the cut... So tonight while trying to reinstall iMovie it was not happening. The new version is for 13 not 12. Giving me large quantities of the for non-digital art and also some extra cleaning time for the bathroom.. with much needed time spent productively .. it was also a chance for me to practice my anger resolution skills concerning the human concept of capitalism and its obsessional tendency that happens to these types of social constructions.

It was a great experience.. and day.

I'm in the habit of taking at least one offline-day per week. It's incredibly relaxing.
Your OS-prob reminds me that I still have a HDD to install in my backup computer where it's to take the place of a mechanically damaged one. But it's been waiting for a month now, it can easily wait another one.

Rather proud of myself. I demoed the cabinets in my garage. I'm making space to put my lumber storage there as well as completely insulating and remodeling my garage into a proper woodshop.

I'll be putting in a drop ceiling later this weekend (or at least beginning to put it up).

I just had the conversation with my boss that I'd been dreading elsewhere in this forum.
It went ENTIRELY a different way than I had expected it to go.
In my FAVOR.

He started by apologizing to me for not having given me more work.
Turns out, I was poached from my old position partially for a skill set I DID NOT HAVE, and of course nobody ever bothered to ask about. They just assumed "X, because Y," despite X and Y having no real relationship, and my only ever having received training to do Y. I am GOOD at Y, but my X skills are all self-taught and minimal, while what they really needed was an EXPERT at X.

So now the only question is what are they going to do with me in April when my boss's position goes away. My boss is making recommendations to the Provost, because my Y skills are valuable in and of themselves. But that's months away, and a worry for another day.

^^ Good catch =) Stealing packages so shortly before Christmas- in effect stealing other people's presents - is about the lowest crime I can imagine. Serves the idiots right if they get caught and put behind bars for Christmas.

@Doom Shepherd: Congratulations!! Now you can have a relaxed and happy Christmas and your well-deserved vacation!
