Surely something good happened to you today

Went to visit Fort York today. Learned quite a lot about the war of 1812.

Howver I do apologize to any Canadians I might have offended by my presence there as an American. My people WERE the bad guys back then, after all...oh well, perhaps the fact that, on my way back, I got lost trying to find the 509 streetcar, might be considered payback. :alienblush:

Took my motorcycle to work today, under the impression we'd have no rain, thanks to Google. Then about 10 minutes after I got to work, it poured. Then about a couple hours before quitting time, it stopped & dried up, & the ride home was just as beautiful as the ride in. Gotta love when you catch that kind of luck

I hate cooked peas but apparently, I used to eat them straight from the pod all the time in my parents' first house.
I’m the same. The smell of cooked peas turns my stomach, but fresh from pod are delicious. Or dried peas in a Bombay mix. But cooked? :barf:

I lost my Blankie, one-square-inch at a time when I was about three years old. My mom was trying to coerce me into eating my cooked peas and snipped off one square every 30 seconds or so that I wouldn't eat them. Now, this Blankie was my favorite thing in the world. It was green. It was my lifeline. I was willing to sacrifice it if it meant I didn't need to eat those vile things!

I'm not allowed to talk about that in front of her and company today.

That's cruel.

I used to hate peas a lot more in the past than now. I started liking peas a whole lot better after I was introduced to brussels sprouts and cauliflower. My mom had a little funny she used to say to get me to giggle and eat my peas: Eat every potato and pea (pee) on your plate.

My mom lacks empathy, in general. She really does think if something works for her it must work for everyone!

She has depression, used to smoke, etc., and thinks that the things that allow her to cope and allowed her to quit smoking should work with everyone else and demands that if you're not self-healing that you're not being insistent enough with your inner voices (thoughts).

OMG, that is horrible. I'm so sorry. :(

The first ripe strawberry growing in my patch. The peas have flourished in the last few days too. I don’t like peas.

I love peas. But I'm really not that fond of strawberries. I mean, I'll eat them, I don't *hate* them, but they're my least favourite berry, and I'd pretty much eat any other berry or fruit before them.

Yes, I know I'm weird.

It is what it is and...

I don't know you!

Strawberries and blueberries are probably two of the best things ever invented!

Oh, and dried papayas!

One week from tomorrow will be the 1-year anniversary of my dad's death.

I stumbled on a post in a group I'm part of on Facebook that someone was giving away some stuff that had been given to them and now that they're moving their lightening their load. I saw this and instantly recognized it:

That is the exact same model of drafting table from the early- to mid-20th Century that my dad's dad used to have that my dad inherited and passed on to me. When I went through my first divorce, that table was left at my ex's house in the hopes that one of her foster children might be able to use it as an art table. I was a little less sentimental back then, but I also wanted it to go to good use. For all I know, it was destroyed with a hammer along with my rather nice computer desk.

These last few days have been exceptionally emotional for me, mostly in awesome, amazing ways.

Picked this up this morning!

It's exactly what I thought it was. :)
