LOL must be the season: a colleague had a flat tire yesterday just when he was due to drive to a meeting.

Good thing - in fact, almost a miracle: the pedestrian tunnel under my crossing that for decades has been getting flooded whenever it rained is actually being repaired! The bagger is already at work =)
The fact that I recommended the tunnel in a letter to the local newspaper as a free public swimming hall might have had a certain influence on the town's decision to drain it

Long time ago there was a place I decided I'd kill myself if I ever got to the point. It's never been quite out of my mind. Got to the point I guess I figured it was an inevitability. And things coming to a point in my life I filled up the tank Friday. I wasn't sure if I was coming back, but I packed a change of clothes. Always a good sign, that.

I went down this weekend. Few hours drive. It was a beautiful place, and it seemed to me this place I always thought only I seemed to know about had more than a few visitors. It was a sacred space to me, for all the wrong reasons. I saw people enjoying the beauty of it all, admiring a few minutes, hopping back on their bikes or in their cars. I've been beating myself up and getting plenty of verbal help about it from people for stuff I didn't do, wasn't the case of and couldn't fix, though I tried. And a pretty place doesn't need a stupid ugly act to ruin it for others. I'm glad I went. I might go back again sometime, but with a change.

Then I went to a couple of casinos. Lucky weekend, I did great. :)

Work was easy today. For the last 3 hours of the shift, they kept us "on standby" in case any papers came in late. I scored 3 papers (about 300 or 400 words long) and then played on my tablet---and got paid for it.

Congratulations :) I find nature always very calming and comforting. Problems fade into the background and I feel more relaxed and stronger.

Yesterday I was out sampling in the national Park. Loved it! The water was horribly cold (2°C / 35°F) but I met a few rare and pretty mushrooms on the bank and a huge Stone Marten who was rather overweight (not pregnant, just very plump). Must have been a good summer for mice hunters up in the mountains. I've never seen one that close - he passed before me at about 1.5 m distance (5 ft). And of course s-/he was gone by the time I had switched my camera on *sigh*.

The family all gathered (outside) at one of my daughters' house today just to spend time together. We had a little baseball game and spent time swinging on the swings.

Got to spend a little time with my Mom this weekend, for the first time since February. Hubby hooked her up with a n Amazon Firestick, Disney Plus, and got her webcam working so she could do TeleHealth appointments with her doctors.

It was really good to see her again.

My urologist phoned me with the results of my latest abdominal CT scan. The unidentified mass in my right kidney hasn't changed or gotten bigger in four years, which means whatever it is, it isn't malignant or cancerous.

Oh, and I got a cute Jacquie Lawson birthday e-card from my mother.

I pretty much haven’t watched football at all this year. I’m still winning my work fantasy league this week by 50 points.

It’s not rocket science people. High predicted points, low opponent rank, look for cheap people replacing injured people.

I don't know jackshit about football. Never have, probably never will. If I find myself watching a game, I barely understand what's going on.

I mean, I'm 50 years old and I still don't know what "downs" are. Pathetic, innit?

I think that's why I love baseball so much. Now THAT, I get!

It's easy; a down is a "try." The team gets 4 "tries" to get the ball at least 10 yards. If they make it, the counter resets. If they don't make it, the other team gets the ball from where the last player was stopped. I have no idea why they call it a "down." They should call it a "play" or "outing" or... something. But I guess it kinda works because they are going "down" the field and they have to put the ball "down" on the field to start the next play.

I have no idea why they call it "football," since kicking the ball is such a minor part of the game. It should be called "handegg"!

I finally put together a hall closet armoire thingy, as our front door just opens straight into a giant room, no hallway or mudroom or anything. It's weird to still be moving in 6 months after, well, moving in.
