Supernatural 5x2 "God God, Y'All" discussion/spoilerish

I didn't figure out the twist right away, so I guess I'm a retard.

Well...erm...ghm....er..... Tis but a figure of speech.

I thought something was up when the kids Sam killed didn't "flame out" so to speak when stabbed with the knife. I really liked Titus Welliver as War, pulling those strings and manipulating. War isn't all catastrophic explosions. There's collateral damage. This town was collateral damage. Since I was unfortunately spoiled about the "end game" to be revealed in episode 4--I won't reveal it--all I can say is that it makes sense that War isn't going whole hog on an epic scale just yet. Trust me on that, Thrall.

Ill take your word on that then. It's just, The Four Horsemen need to be larger-then-life and have a sense of dread and danger. I didn't get it from this guy. When a couple of mortals can easily overpower War, well he's kind of a wuss to begin with then. Read Good Omens. The War in that book is one of the highlights.

I really liked this episode. I give it high marks; at least an A. I loved the way War was represented. Not every destructive act has to be flashy and in your face. I liked War's subtly and sense of humor. I'm sure War can be all the images you've conjured, but the fact that these evil personifications aren't one-sided, and show a bit of capriousness, fascinates me. I think this is going to be a kick ass season.

It is sad to see the brothers so at odds with each other, but they need to work on themselves individually before they can work on their relationship and be a force to reckon with as a team. Also, loved Castiel and Bobby. Castiel using a cell phone was so...matter-of-fact. And Bobby's anger is understandable. Still, I liked the way he got down to business after his hissy fit. It was great seeing Ellen again, the character and actress is by far better than either Ruby or Bela or their actresses. Between Supernatural and Sons of Anarchy I'm in hog heaven as far as my TV viewing goes.

although I will have to do a bit of Googlin' cause I totally forget where Dean got that amulet from...Has he always had that, did he get that recently?

Sam gave it to Dean at Christmas when they were both children. "A Very Supernatural Christmas" featured it in flashback. He was going to give it to John, but John made Sam angry when he didn't show up for Christmas, so he gave it to Dean instead.

Is there anything special about the car? Seeing as how I only have watched a handful of episodes, do they drive everywhere? If so, how do they get anywhere so fast? :p

It's got a Bauer engine for expedient travel.

It's sort of the third Winchester and is Dean's baby so there's some significance to him offering it to Sam.

Not a great episode unfortunately. My favorite part I think was Castiel having to call to find the brothers.

By the numbers episode, although the appearance of the first horseman was cool, and Cassie's foreshadowing of the amulet was good. Pity what's-his-name (it's late) is stuck in a wheelchair.

The twist was easily spotted a mile off, but I didn't mind.

Need to lay off the Sam/Dean angst storyline. Already two episodes in and I'm tired of it. Also, the apparent story arc from here on in does make little room for deviating from the beaten path, unlike previous seasons.

Still a fan though. :)

On the whole, I like what I'm seeing. At first, I felt a little cheated about the boys being scooped up and put on the plane but it did open up a bigger question of "Whodunnit?" that helped offset what felt like a copout.

There feels like too many subplots being molded to fit in a one-hour episode rather than one flowing story but I'm sure that it will come all together later in the season.

The continued angst between Sam and Dean is starting to get a little grating. Disagreeing over Ruby's help, over Sam using his powers, over killing Lilith, and now over a question of trusting Sam's choices altogether. I'm afraid to say it but it kind of gets to me like the on again and off again qualities of Clark and Lana. Sam and Dean are in a big supernatural war here. I can hear John saying "Boys, get your priorities straight!! Either be stupid and part ways or build a bridge and get over it already!! " If John can't come back to say it maybe Bobby or Ellen can!! :p

The conflict won't last too much longer, KeeponTrekking. I promise. ;) It'll play out in a couple more weeks :) (trust me on that). They just had to be honest in the storytelling to get them back on track. No reset buttons for this writing staff; you gotta respect that. It won't last as long as Clark and Lana. I promise you my puppy dog as a present if that happens. I find it frustrating, too, but in a very deliciously good way if that makes any sense. Sam tried to strangle Dean. That's not easy to get past. I know I'd be bitchy for a couple of weeks if my sister tried to crush my windpipe.

Here's a hysterical clip of Dean and the dead pan Castiel from episode 3's "Free to Be You and Me." Lucifer's back.....just not in this clip.

Never
