"My, what a big baseball bat you have, Grandma."
"All the better to beat you over the head with tonight's message, my dear."
If I was Sam, I would have hit back and told Dean, "Don't you EVER hit me like that again." I was expecting his retaliation a lot sooner than it came. Yeah, I know Dean's scared, but was so fucking way out of line here. There are ways to express your concerns that don't require violence, even if you are a straight man.
It isn't done yet even though Sam says it is. You know it isn't going to be that simple.
Of course it's not over. Just cause Sam says he's not going to use his powers doesn't mean he's not going to use them. This feels like it's telegraphing coming attractions just a bit too obviously. However, I reserve space for the possibility of being surprised.
#1. Pilot, In My Time of Dying, Magnificent Seven, Lazarus Rising
In My Time of Dying. Tough, strong, heartbreaking, all-so-tragic-in-retrospect.
#2. Wendigo, Everybody Loves a Clown, THe Kids are alright, Are You There God?
Hmmm... I barely remember any of them, so they can't have made that much of an impact.
#3. Dead in the Water, Bloodlust, Bad Day at Blackrock, and In the Beginning.
Bad Day and In the Beginning about equal, for very very different reasons.
#4. Phantom Traveler, Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, Sin City and Metamorphosis.
Sin City. I love "shove two people in a room and make them talk" episodes.
I find myself wondering whose girlfriend is Genevieve Cortese that she got the part instead. She's certainly not the caliber of Misha Collins, is she?
I feel guilty for badmouthing someone I don't know, but New Ruby is an empty space. White noise. My eye skips off her like she's not there. I wonder if the writers have been giving her so few lines because they know she's not up to it. Katy Cassidy always had bigger speeches, but even with no lines at all she could make her presence felt. New girl cannot.
