Did they want kids to start smoking? Undoubtedly. But adults eat cereal too. ;)
Flintstones was a primetime TV show in the beginning. It was actually nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series in 1961!

Kryptonians are space Jews. Kal-el was probably circumcised before he left Krypton.

If he was cloned, which is what Byrne said, and then MOS said that he was the first "man" in thousands of years not to have been cloned, then Clark is maybe not going to have a belly button.

To fit in, and hide among among the humans, that's two surgeries at least.

John Williams Superman The Movie score is my favorite.

It even works when applied to other Superman films:

There is an amazing Man of Steel fan-edit that scores the movie with the Williams score and lightens the colors to more appropriate tones. It does *wonders*.

Yeah, Flinstones is technically supposed to be geared at adults. It was basically the '60s version of modern day adult animated series like The Simpsons or Bob's Burgers.

Meh. I prefer the original (nor am I keen on someone totally unconnected to a work of art [commercial or otherwise] making such a change without the input of the creator—among the reasons I loathe colourized versions of classic films with no consultation of the creator. I wouldn’t deploy Crayola crayons on a Picasso pencil sketch just because I like colour.)

Yeah, and I'm really looking forward to Zachary Quinto as Lex Luthor, that seems like pretty great casting to me.

Reviving the thread to share this charming and off-key little oddity:

Is it a bad film? Yeah, pretty much. But is it still entertaining? Yep.

It has its virtues. The opening bit in this scene -- where every hand in the room shoots up to sponsor him -- understands who Superman is and what he represents, in his world and ours, in ways that utterly elude the character's more recent cinematic perpetrators:

A big budget can't buy everything.

Christopher Reeve put his heart into that movie but it was clearly a project whose vision and scope were well beyond what its limited budget could accomplish. Superman IV may be a mediocre and arguably terrible sequel but nobody can say it didn't at least try and have a positive message it was trying to tell audiences.
