Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

I like that design.
More or less off topic, interesting fact: In a couple weeks they're going to be doing a "Wild West Festival" at a park in Glendale, and one of their celebrity guests is Noel Neill, the second Lois Lane in the original George Reeves Superman TV show. It claims it's going to be her last public appearance.

She will be 91 next month, bless her heart.

Well, I, for one, hate it! It looks NOTHING like what Jor-El would wear in the comics! Y'know, the one that hasn't stayed anything close to consistent for the past 75 years...

:shifty:

The costuming in Man Of Steel is really beginning to depress me. Indeed every superhero flick seems to be smothering in over designed rubber.

Over designed rubber. How is what Crowe wearing "over designed"? It's an armour with a cape and the House of El crest on his chest.

I like that Crowe wears the Superman suit underneath. That way it's nothing special, it's just a "casual" piece of clothing on Krypton. It only becomes something special on Earth.

On a similar note I hope they put some emphasis on the fact that the Kryptonians don't have any extraordinary powers on Krypton, only on Earth.

I see that Jor-El's costume design in Morrison's Action reboot of the character splits the difference between the old style and incorporating some of the lines of Superman's new outfit as seen in this movie.

^huh? He's written some of the best scores ever.

Has written.
I'm think the last time he wrote some action music that wasn't Williams-generic was in his score for Jurassic Park: The Lost World

^huh? He's written some of the best scores ever.

huh doubled.

The Superman theme probably is the most recognisable movie theme ever!

Indeed it is.
It's a fantastic piece of music.

Still, Williams as the composer is hardly an inspired choice - nowadays.

It's intersting to see a defense of the rubbery looking suit by some in this thread who bashed the first looks of Thor and cast in costume.

Character Bias??

I like it. It's not what you'd expect, and that's not a bad thing. Kind of looks like a nobleman from the Middle Ages or something. Maybe they're going for a Medieval look for Krypton instead of an Ice Age look. And yes, these costumes (including the 'rubber' aspect) always look better on film.
