Hmm, I was perfectly fine all this time with them bringing back Zod, but having all three Phantom Zone villains again seems to be hitting the nail a little TOO squarely on the head.

Even with a few different story elements, it's going to be hard now not to think of this as simply a flashier, more expensive remake of Superman II-- perhaps even more than SR was considered a remake of the first movie.

I know it's still early, but frankly Singer's proposed sequel is starting to sound like the more interesting and original one about now...

You're mistaking Faora with Ursa. Two completely different Kryptonians.


We've no idea of the plot still aside from reported rumors so I don't know how someone can say that Singer's sequel sounds more interesting. Sigh.

^ Indeed. This movie aside from casting and the title is a complete unknown still. It's impossible to make a judgment call on it but I guess fans still will and can lol.

I'm hoping I can agree with the comment made in the article in the link - namely, that rather than going for big names, the casting people are casting actors who are right for the role. I don't know much about this actress, but I'm pleased with the casting of Shannon. Hopefully she's equally appropriate.

The only big names are Costner and Lane as for the main cast they've been fairly known to unknown which I think is a good thing. So far so good.

Faora is not a variation of Ursa, she's her own character. Ursa was based on Faroa.

Smallville recently used her as Zod's wife.

I don't know how you couldn't have him now. The three (or some variation thereof) have pretty much always gone together, haven't they?

I don't think that's been the case recently in the comics.

Anyway, I'm very curious about who they cast for the other roles like Perry White and Jimmy Olsen. I remember back when they were casting Superman Returns and Hugh Laurie was cast as White but had to back out due to scheduling conflicts. I think he'd be terrific in the role.

Non was given a back story as being Jor-El's mentor who was lobotomized by the Council. He brought to their attention first that the planet was in danger. Jor-El continued his work. All three were major facets of the New Krypton storyline.
