Supergirl TV Series is being work on.

Okay, first of all, sorry for not using spoiler tags earlier when I mentioned the flashback, that was my bad.

Secondly, @Christopher: I agree that it makes more sense to have the parents around (I wish the current Superman comics would follow that). I actually want the parents to be around on the show.

... I remember something in a line (sorry I can't be more specific, it's been a week since I last re-watched the pilot, and I'm not at home right now to check) where Kara said - propably at the end of the intro narration, but I'm far from sure - that there was only one other person who knew her secret, or something to that effect. I took it that the one person was Alex, since she was actually around, and thought that meant that the parents had passed. I sure hope it was just a flawed narration, or something they'll change by the time the pilot airs.

Also, the fact that they are totally absent from the rest of the pilot makes me suspicious, every origin story of Superman that has Ma and Pa still around, they immediately know about Clark going public, or even know beforehand, whether it was the Byrne-Reboot, Lois & Clark, TAS, Birthright, ...

I do hope I'm wrong about this.

And here's a short little video to go with it, with what sounds like part of a new theme maybe?

And of course Benoist is still looking as cute as ever. :)

Last week of October seems like a very late start for a Network show. Uncommon yes--for networks?
Cable shows have had those starts, Walking Dead being a prime example, but a Network show?

Even if the Supergirl does not exist in the same universe as the movies, maybe they are positioning Supergirls run to overlap with the release of Man of steel II to exploit Dawn of Justices advertising buy?

One of the networks has it's shows coming back in November this year, due to sports events. I think it was CBS or CW.

Yeah the reason it's following Big Bang Theory to start with is because that show always gets pushed to Mondays that time of year for football.

And nowadays shows seem to premiere at all times of the year, so this doesn't really seem like that big a deal to me.

That'll give them a chance to use it as a replacement for a show that only lasts for a few episodes before it fails, and also, with the early online Pilot buzz and viewing, it puts the actual airing of the Pilot pretty close to Sweeps. So, they may be gambling on getting Sweeps ratings early on, before it has a chance to lose any viewers that the Pilot gets

Is Melissa going to be on Big Bang?

Synergy.

Have a big Bang Episode about the new Supergirl and then they chance onto Melissa somehow, which there's a countdown to the pilot airing.

Sheldon was the only person in the world who didn't watch the leak, and he is desperately trying to avoid spoilers.

Sheldon has a dream, where Melissa in full costume gives him a medal for not watching the leak.

Random thought while watching the trailer again:
So... Kara had had her ears pierced back on Krypton or how did she get earrings on earth?
Did she ask Kal to do it with his superstrenght and a Kryptonian needle?

In John Byrne's The Man of Steel miniseries that relaunched Superman for the post-Crisis continuity, he established that Superman shaved by reflecting his heat vision off a mirror. Kara could've pierced her ears the same way.

Yeah, it is surprising. Maybe they have a less episodes.

Nope. Just fewer breaks. There ARE exceptions, but the general rule is that all CBS shows get full 22-episode season orders.

As far as the later start date goes, it's only a week before the show was previously announced to begin (November), and the fact that it's being launched behind BBT demonstrates the network's faith in it.

Maybe she just wears clip-on earings.

Something I think it'd be fun if they address is how exactly she hides her Supergirl outfit (including a cape, skirt, and some pretty bulky boots) under those rather form-fitting clothes she wears at her job. With Clark it was always easier to buy the idea since he usually wore a suit, but not so much with Kara.

CBS has Thursday Night Football through October, and that causes some shows to debut late. Elementary, for instance, won't be back for its fourth season until November 5th.
