Supergirl - Season Four

Maybe we should be thankful

I like the idea of getting rid of the skirt, but the suit in the picture could definitely use something break up all of the blue.

I like the new suit. It reminds me of the New 52 Superman suit that Lee designed, which was the best.

I'll have to try watching the show again when it comes back - dropped it about midway through the third year.

She doesn't need protection, her suit is not armour.

The character is in her 30s now, and probably wants to be more reserved, not that her suit was lascivious.

She barely perspires, but I suspect that she has at one supersuit for each day of the week... However, although we have seen her wear (some of?) her suit under her civies, Kara might go about the Batman route. Hundreds of locked wardrobes across the city. Wayne Cola vending machines. I shit you not. 100s of locked wardrobes means that many of the wardrobes haven't been opened up in years, and the super suit could be out of date.

Cleaning a super suit?

If she has a clothing fabricator or replicator, then maybe each super suit is for single use only? Therefore Kara doesn't have a stockpile of current supersuits, and switching design is irrelevant.

io9: [...] "The primary reason being, according to Benoist, so she doesn’t freeze to death filming in chilly Vancouver wearing a superskirt."

Dunno, seems to me if they ditch the skirt, they should go all the way in the other direction and give her red pants. (Sames goes for Supes.) And with all that dark blue, they should really finally give the "S" crest its proper yellow fill.

The original suit design had pants as well, but they were overlaid by the skirt and probably had to be made of thinner material in order to avoid the entire costume appearing bulky on camera.... hence why she was cold all the time on set.

Ditching the skirt likely means that the costume department can make the suit of more insulated material and still have it appear sleek on camera.

The irony is she will still wear her civilian clothes to much. All the arrowverse shows seem to want to use the costumes less and less. Jason

The dress is not exploitative?

It was however designed to be worn in California, and they are still pretending to be living in California and have to dress like it's not always fucking freezing, in Vancouver.

Are skirts not PC now?
It’s rather bland, and the colours are way too dark.
I do not mind darker colors on DC characters, but the design of the new SG suit is just an unimaginative drop cloth of blue with no creative accents to break that up.

The Super family should have brighter colours. They’re supposed to be the lighter heroes to that of the Bat family, etc.
She seems too young to be wearing that sort of suit yet. That’s what she wears when she’s older. Unless this is a misdirect and that is a older Kara. With the Crisis event coming, could be easily another Earth’s Kara as well.

That would be perfectly acceptable (and off the mark) as an alternate world SG costume.

The new suit would look a little bit better if they had given her shorter below the knee boots.

Though I'm guessing they probably kept the over the knee ones from the previous costume for added knee protection.
