Supergirl - Season Four

These are not Nazis--they are Trump and his supporters, being portrayed as Nazis, completely mischaracterizing the issues as they are today.

The idea that a US government would behave this way is abhorrent, and it also a terrible creative decision. All because the writers are butthurt that Trump won.

They are specifically a characterization of the Charlottesville white supremacists. Bluntly, whether they are meant to represent anyone or not in RL, they are close enough to the white supremacist militias that exist in my state of Kentucky and perform regular hate crimes.

Descendants of the actual KKK.

So I wouldn't waste any breath defending them since they're close enough to reality to matter even in caricature form. Like if you combined hippies and serial killers, it's a stupid idea but the Manson family still exists.

The sons of liberty can't be bad because the US government is always good?

McCarthy's Black List, small pox blankets, and your Japanese Internment Camps.

Mind you, there is a point where you just feel like "who gives a crap about these people." Marvel's citizens are some of the most repulsive humans in fiction with how they treat mutants and ignore the government's treatment of them. The Secret Empire was meant to be a critique on politics but in RL people were constantly protesting and resisting or weren't, you know, Nazis. The Secret Empire plotline not only painted conservatives as fully endorsing Hydra but that everyone went along with it period.

Supergirl is far from that plotline but it should be a show brimming with outrage against Lockwood and its goons from the public up to Kara.

Actually, the descendants to the KKK are the democrats, which liberals won't acknowledge, even as their antisemitism is becoming more apparent.

McCarthy's Black List, small pox blankets, and your Japanese Internment Camps.

Look how far back you have to go. Of course, let's not forget that the Japanese Internment Camps were the product of the democrats as well. As for McCarthyism, you're finding that in today's democrats. But since liberals control the media and Hollywood, they choose to demonize Trump--even on a COMIC BOOK show.

Right now, the writers are so political that they have created a universe where no one is all that likeable, and the coolest character is Lex.

So you think that American Government can be just like the Nazi Party if they are Liberal?

Sure, why not?

Obama accidentally drone struck a wedding.

That's super dickish and someone should take your drones away if you can't use them responsibly.

You are right...it's a mischaracterizing. Baker and Lockwood is much more moderate....

That's nice for you but we actually have the real guys in swastikas, swearing oaths, and killing people. I don't care who they vote for because that's less important than their meth-fueled murders and assaults and hate crimes. Please don't pretend they don't exist for political gain.

Anyway, back to Supergirl.

If I understand Kirk, which I probably don't, he's not saying that that Lockwood is not a Nazi, but that the liberal Supergirl's writers room are using Baker as a placeholder for Trump, and demonizing Trump by suggesting that Trump is a Nazi working for Nazis.

Since Trump is not a Nazi and would NEVER work for or with a Nazi or a Neo-Nazi, then the metaphor falls short, doesn't make sense, and meritlessly insults all conservatives by suggesting an impossible relationship.

The problem with that line of thought, is that Baker is not Trump.

Except that this is pretty much exactly what is going on right now--in a real world, not an action show context. Militia at the border, children locked away in makeshift jails separated from their families, people who have lived their entire lives in the U.S. being deported and separated from their families, etc.

Yes.

The Alien Amnesty act, gave the Aliens who signed up, either a path to citizenship or full and immediate Citizenship, or put them in Limbo like DACA, where they were "temporarily" protected from pursuit, without actually becoming citizens, or put on a path to citizenship.

Deportation is impossible for most of the Aliens on Earth.

Lockwood is going to suggest internment camps, and then concentration camps, and then mass graves, and then a holy crusade to clean space.

Dude's a Nazi.

Everyone ... please keep the politics related to the show and not the real world version. Mixing them into the same post won't help you either. ;)

Which actually eliminates the need to complain about it because superheroes and villains exaggerate stories for cosmic help.

If he's not Trump, then don't complain about it and just enjoy the show.

Besides, Baker is a Democrat since he's Linda Carter's VP.

I saw this pointed out on Reddit, there are references to Poison Ivy (Pamela Isley) and the Scarecrow (Dr. J. Crane) in Lex's journal

Out of respect for the moderator, I will let the complete misinterpretation and lack of understanding of conservatives go for now.

The bottom line though is that this whole show has turned into a liberal commercial, instead of a comic book show. The writers really should stay out of politics and just write a superhero story. When they do that, this show is very good, like the Lex two parter.

Superhero stories are generally about something more or they’d just be flashy nonsense for toddlers. If you don’t want politics watch cartoons written for very young children.

I hate to break it to you, but that's simply not true. Lois and Clark didn't go into politics. They told stories. The Flash has very little politics. No good show spends this much time demonizing half the country just because they don't agree with them politically.

If you want politics, watch the news.

It was made 20 years ago too. It’s on DVD, go watch it. The rest of us don’t want our TV dumbed down because some sensitive people can’t handle metaphor and allegory.

Your TV is already dumbed down by the Supergirl writers, who demonize conservatives and have no concept of what they actually think. I realize that for some, quitting is something you do when things don't go your way, but not for most conservatives. I prefer to exercise my right of freedom of speech and call out these writers for what they are doing wrong.

I have no problem with metaphor or allegory, when it is somewhat accurate. Supergirl is anything but. The writers are just throwing a tantrum because Trump won.
