Spoilers Supergirl - Season 3

Is it me or is Mon El's outfit possible the worst in the entire Arrowverse? I swear he looked more like Darren Criss on that "Glee" episode when he wore a superhero costume. It was really really bad. I also wonder if they will ever change Supergirl's outfit. Every other star on all the other Arrowverse shows have had their leads change outfits from the one they started in. Also in the comic's does Supergirl become someone called, Power girl? Any chance that will happen?

On the one hand, I hope not. Supergirl's costume is perfect the way it is. On the other hand, one thing that's characterized Supergirl in the comics is how many different costume designs she's worn over the years (as charmingly illustrated by cartoonist Mike Maihack here), and sometimes I think it would be cool if the show's Kara were more experimental with super-fashions.

Supergirl doesn't become Power Girl. Power Girl, as originally conceived, was Supergirl's alternate-universe doppelganger, although she was older and more, err, developed than the teenaged Supergirl. After Crisis on Infinite Earths erased the Multiverse, she was given a convoluted new origin, and so was Supergirl, for that matter, since DC at the time wanted Superman to be the only survivor of Krypton. But they were entirely separate characters in that iteration. I think the current comics are back to the doppelganger idea, though. That's a concept that would fit neatly into the Arrowverse, of course, seeing as how we've already met one doppelganger of Kara.

Since they have opted for head-to-toe coverage, I think the current costume is as good as you could ask for. It's a great adaptation of Kara's more modest comic book outfits. Only reason to change it would be if they wanted to go with one of the more revealing variants -- which isn't going to happen.

Kara's thighs are bare, which is not head-to-toe coverage.

Power Girl's origin has varied over the years, but she and Supergirl have always been different characters. Supergirl does not grow up to become Power Girl.

Last I knew, Power Girl was simply the Earth-2 version of Supergirl, but DC has rebooted its continuity a few times since INFINITE CRISIS so who knows?

(We'll just forget about the whole "Atlantean" origin, which got swept under the rug years and years ago.)

Nope. She wears stockings (unlike the Helen Slater and skirted comics versions).
Oh, OK. I guess then covering doesn't imply covering up? Learn something every day! :techman:

Either way, I did misspeak saying her legs were bare, which I did realize after I posted. I meant "visible," which I guess can still be covered with something transparent.

^ Gotcha, except they're not transparent, but sort of a maroon color. It's not even supposed to look like her legs are bare.

Supergirl--
"Of Two Minds"

SG/Kara: "Unresolved issues" with Mon-El--Part 1000; the sniping at / disagreements with Saturn Girl was a "yawn" since it--like all Mon El related matters--is predictable. Her entire involvement in the Worldkiller arc would take on a greater, darker meaning if that relationship drama was not serving as the constant backdrop.

Saturn Girl: as one from the future who knows how history needs to unfold / what they're facing, Mon-El bending to his old GF was just nonsensical, as he knows Saturn Girl is correct. No one would risk the safety of earth and the future of millions elsewhere all because he's trying to support his former GF. But of course, Saturn Girl's attitude will make her the forced, "soft" antagonist & all Mon-El needs to (ultimately) decide to run off on his wife.

Lena / Samantha (Reign): Still not buying Lena being the caring employer. It just reads like she will pull her own spin on the Luthor legacy using the power obtained from Reign.

Winn / James:
The past few episodes have built their brotherhood in a natural, appealing way. Really loving that. A complete contrast to their season one relationship.

GRADE: C+

I love this show, but I do wish the writers would decide on a killing policy and stick with it. Kara steadfastly doesn't kill, except all those times she does. (Inspired no doubt by the show's Superman, who also "doesn't kill" but whom we're told killed Zod.)

As nonsensical as it is, in practice it actually seems like Kara balks at killing anything that looks human, but if you're a giant CGI monstrosity (Parasite, Dominator, White Martian), then it's open season.

Kara won't kill if there are other options. If all other options disappear, though, she'll do what she has to, even if it means killing.

The source of her conflict with Imra this episode was that Imra didn't see - or refused to see - other options.

Speaking of Imra, I love that she can generate force fields with her mind; I can't remember if we'd seen her use that power already, but I don't recall it being an ability she has in any of the Legion comics or that she had in either Smallville or the Legion of Superheroes cartoon.

I guess it was a bit naive to assume that, just because Sam and Julia were good people in their human forms, Pestilence's human form would be too. Still, Imra's "kill her" plan didn't work any better than Kara's "reach her" plan.

I bet it rankled Kara to hear Reign quote the El family motto, El mayarah (stronger together), when the Worldkillers were reunited. Way to distort the meaning.

Why did Brainy need to use an image inducer to avoid causing a panic? Last year established that aliens had amnesty and could go about in public. People should be used to them by now. Well, I suppose maybe fear of Reign has put people on edge about aliens again. Although we rarely see aliens around the city anymore, just infrequently in the bar. The new showrunners seem to have downplayed that story thread.

And where the heck did Lena get the idea that Sam was seeing Reign in an "alternate dimension" instead of just within her mind?

I thought it was funny since they allow everyone and their brother (and mother...) in the DEO and now they're freaked out cuz they don't recognize someone right away. I thought the aliens thing made the Elon Musk reference odd on Earth-SG as you'd think he'd be trying to buy tech secrets off aliens instead of screwing around with rockets (NOTE: I'm being a bit facetious here....).

And where the heck did Lena get the idea that Sam was seeing Reign in an "alternate dimension" instead of just within her mind?
Well her sunken place did look lot like the upside down.

Sneak peak for tonight's episode. Lena's got some explaining to do:
