Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

Superman does not look muscular enough in that pic but the actor playing him looks buff enough. Weird.

The bad photoshopping of Supergirl and Superman doesn't help first impressions

Tyler's much bigger than that. If it's the suit then it suffers the same problem as the Superman returns suit. The suit flattens all his muscles out.

There's was a twitter comment I read

"In time they will join you in the gym Henry"

Yeah, like I said, the actor is clearly in excellent physical shape. The problem is the suit. It hides his abs, making him look skinnier that he is. In fact, we've seen superhero suits like batman's that have exaggerated fake abs to make the superhero look super buff. This suit does the opposite.

I am statisfied just from the fact they used the full yellow on the symbol. I was worried they would do what they did with Supergirl. This gives her her own distinct coloring.

As with the current movie costume, I really don't like the texture. I guess I'll have to wait and see how it looks on screen before I can say if it really looks good or not.

That suit for the SG Superman looks fine. I'd have preferred something closer to the classic suit, but that looks ok. I like it better then the movie suit.

It's almost exactly like the movie suit in color and texture and sans the man panties. So you're saying the little bit of yellow color makes so much of a different that this version is so much better?

Had a very small disagreement with my girlfriend.

Not even realizing she was quoting Rocky Horror, the light of my life says '"I don't like a man with too many muscles."

I go on to claim that he's a bit of a runt, so then it's a verbal brawl about what's more important, bulk or definition... It's so nice that we have commonalities. :)

The texture seems pretty different to me and I like the TV show's better. I also like the different shield, the belt, and the cape fasteners. I didn't say the movie version was bad anyway, I just said I like this Supergirl version better. There are enough differences for me to prefer one over the other, without saying that the movie version was bad

I'm not super crazy about the thick belt or New 52-style boots, and don't like it as much as the MOS/BvS costumes, but it still gets the job done well enough and I'm sure it'll grow on me with time (much like the Supergirl costume did).

And I'm also not bothered by his leaner physique either. I've always preferred the leaner look Christopher Reeve had in his first movie versus the beefier look he had in the second anyway, and this isn't that far off from that.

I am kinda surprised to see that the Supergirl costume hasn't changed this season. From interviews I was expecting at least a few small tweaks, but I don't see anything different at all at the moment.

The devil's in the details. It's along similar lines, sure, but it looks a bit more like an article of clothing rather than a molded appliance intended to represent some kind of alien armor. (Or rather, the underlayer of Kryptonian armor, according to Man of Steel. Which means, though people joke about the costume lacking the so-called "red underwear," in this version the entire costume is underwear!) The S shield is more traditionally shaped and more pronounced, which does look better, though I wonder about those clips or whatever around the outside of it. And the belt is an actual belt rather than just some strips embedded into the suit. I do like the shape of Cavill's boots better, though. This Superman has oddly squarish and armor-like boots.

The officially released photo makes him look exceedingly pale and anemic. I think it has to do with the Photoshop work because on-set photos have leaked and Hoechlin looks much better without the lens flares and weird color filters.

Okay, those heavy, straplike cape attachments are very distracting. I don't think they work well at all.

It's also kind of distracting how... formfitting the costume is below the belt, from both front and rear. Female or gay viewers might be quite happy with that, I suppose, but it seems a bit immodest, and it illustrates the practical reason for the classic red trunks.

People today have been brainwashed by the media into believing that you have to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger to be "muscular enough." Real strength can be lean. And why would Superman need to be overmuscled to be superstrong? He could be built like Homer Simpson and still be strong enough to defeat any Earthly threat. Indeed, how would he even manage to work out short of lifting giant boulders or something? (Cf. The Incredibles, but I assume Superman's strength is an order of magnitude or two above Mr. Incredible's.)
I think in at least one version he has some kind of a super heavy machine that he uses to work out. I think it was All-Star Superman, but I'm not sure.

That butt shot will most likely be covered by a CGI cape in post production. Overall, these "in action" pics really help sell him. Shaving helped too.

Not quite sold but it is Supergirl after all, Superman just needs to be servicable I think.

Then again, I'd probably just create some CG Adonis and never show his face.
