Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

I don't actually want it to be Krypto at all. That would be a hell of an anticlimax. I'd like it to be something that comes as a surprise to the viewers, rather than just being the exact thing they've been speculating about for four months.

I can understand that. Trouble is, most of the other reasonable possiblities (other Kryptonians, Daxamities, Brainy) are out IMO because J'onn didn't recognise the 'feel' of whatever was inside and he's obviousness familiar with the feel of Kryptonians and somewhat (thanks to Indigo) familar with Coluans). I'd also say that a Durlan might expand the mythology of the series, but given that their only "hat" is shapeshifting wouldn't be much help narratively.

Personally, if they're going for another alien, I'm hoping for a Xudarian like Tomar-Re and Tomar-Tu of the GLs (actually one of them would be cool) as Xudar is apparently one of the few planets other than Krypton that support(ed) sentient in that Sector.

Where did he say anything about "feeling" what was inside? I thought he just said "You don't know what's in there."

Maybe it's an ice cream machine!
I don't know about that, Christopher. I did my research on Kryptonian history and it seems that there were only 256 ice cream machines, or krek-nons as they are pronounced in Kryptonese, in existence at the time of Krypton's destruction. The odds of one of those machines being placed in a pod seem pretty small to me.;)

Yes, and my assumption - which could be completely wrong admittedly - was that he said "what" rather than "who" because he'd already psychically probed the craft and it didn't contain anything he recognised as a "person".

Which is just an assumption, so it can't be said to rule anything out. I think it's a rather massive reach myself. Anyone would say "You don't know what's in there" in that situation. After all, "what" can encompass "who," but the reverse is not the case.

True.

I guess I kinda want it to be the case tho, as I think it would be something new and interesting for Supergirl to do. The nearest we've had in a live action in a long time was Shelby of Smallville, who was (in his first episode "Krypto") something of a hybrid of Krypto and Streaky until depowered.

On reflection I also agree that it wouldn't be the unexpected thing for them to do, possibly even anti-climatic, but I'm struggling to think of another option that work (especially as IIRC all the new actors are accounted for?).

I don't think the person in the pod will be Alura her aunt but I do fully expect her to come back somehow at a future point.

If this role is substantial enough, I know it says recurring role in the article, could the POTUS be Kara's new surrogate mother figure? Am I recalling correctly that some talk was going around that Calista Flockhart might not be back as Cat Grant.
I would totally love that... also, the way they set up Kara's new office, they certainly opened the door for Cat Grant to be out (or recurring).
However, I think the Lynda Carter news was misdirection...clearly someone else is campaigning for the position, with Supergirl slogan and all

I have to admit, when I read an article today about the candidates for Secretary Clinton's running mate, for a moment I thought, "She should pick Cat Grant."

Even though more than one person has pointed it out, I don't personally associate Hilary Clinton's new campaign slogan with Supergirl.

I do agree with Christopher, though, that it's reaching more than a bit to try and use one comment from Hank/J'onn that is "broader than the side of a barn" to make any sort of determination when it comes to the question of "who/what is in the pod"?

I would also point out that the producers have gone on record stating that whoever/whatever is in the pod is going to have a significant impact on Season 2 narratively, and the "Super Pets" do not fit that description by any stretch of the imagination.

I disagree that they couldn't have a significant effect on the narrative. Pets, especially dogs, are a big part of the life of any responsible owner.

However, properly interactive sentients would be an easier thing to fit into and add to the narrative.

The presence of a "Super Pet" would not be used to 'drive' the narrative of Season 2. There's not enough 'weight' behind those characters and what they would add to the dynamic of the series as it's been established.

I think they could make it work. I even think it would be one of the less complex options.

However, it is a reach to suggest that it's the only option. I'd say the next most likely is one of her parents, as that would account for no new unaccounted for actors. And would also be at least a new spin on the situation.

I updated the slogan, seemed appropriate somehow.
