Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

Sooo, the Supergirl TV Show universe has just two superheroes and a handful of non-alien supervillains..?

Supergirl did mention that "masks are big in that other city" in the Master Jailer episode, implying the existence of the Batfamily.

I hate to say, but the crossover ep did nothing to draw me back to Supergirl. It's a nice show, but so slight and a bit forced if I'm honest.

I don't think it's slight at all. I think it's a pretty strong message show, using genre stories for allegory and social commentary like the best science fiction. It's emphatically feminist, it's made stands against Trump-style immigrant-bashing propaganda, and it's confronted the morality of the illegal detention of prisoners in a way The Flash has avoided paying more than lip service to. I think it's the most substantial of the Berlanti Multiverse shows. Just because it takes a more fun and upbeat tone, that doesn't mean it has less to say than a show that's gritty and angsty all the time.

Since Batman will never appear on a Berlanti series, I would not be surprised to see Batgirl worked into the series if its renewed..or perhaps a shadowy, brief cameo similar to Nightwing from the Justice League Unlimited episode "Grudge Match."

Yeah the other Berlanti shows might be a bit darker and more serious, but they don't really strike me as being any "deeper" or more substantive than Supergirl when you actually look all that closely at them.

Much less so, I'd say. They do all make some subtle progressive statements, like including same-sex relationships as no big deal (although they backed away from letting Curtis kiss his husband on Arrow last night), but they don't have nearly as much overt social commentary as Supergirl does. Even when Oliver was running for mayor on Arrow, the show assiduously avoided defining his specific policy positions beyond "crime is bad" and "standing together is good," even though Green Arrow is famously one of the most vocally liberal, Bernie Sanders-esque characters in comicdom. Legends of Tomorrow has done a bit of social commentary about racial and sexual prejudice in the past, but kind of halfheartedly.

It was just one episode, but that one really revolved around her. I'd expect her playing the U.S. president in SG would be about equally prominent.

I just saw the news too. I saw something in a sidebar that said that Wonder Woman was coming to Supergirl so, skeptical but curious, I clicked on it and saw the Lynda Carter news.

What would be amazing is if Lynda Carter played a version of Lynda Carter the actress/former Miss America who ran for President... So that when they start saying "President Carter", the audience is going to think that Jimmy is back in office.

How much gay stuff did Stephen Amell do in Queer as Folk and/or Dante's Cove?

Seriously, that's him on the hammock.

is he 17?

Unrecognisable!

John Barrowman is on set.

He's like a magical fairy godfather spreading good cheer and gaiety.

Finally checked out this episode. I wasn't that impressed. The best part was the chemistry between Barry and Kara. I really wish that Kara and Barry were on the same Earth. It would be cool seeing Kara's team interact with Barry's team. I also liked that we got to see Barry use his brain and be more resourceful on Kara's Earth, in fact becoming the de facto Cisco. I also didn't mind James's jealousy or Winn going all fanboy around Barry.

As others said, the episode did miss something without Hank and Alex. For a moment I had forgotten they were on the run and was expecting Alex to be at the DEO when Barry showed up.

Now for more negatives:
-The episode felt rushed, so all the relationships were rushed. Barry and Kara's easy chemistry made their rushed friendship work, but I do think this crossover should have been a two-parter.
-Didn't care for how Flash and Kara first met. It felt way too convenient that he would arrive, in National City, and save Kara in just that fashion. Does he have super hearing now or something?
-I also didn't like how Barry was introduced to Cat. Why bring him to the office at all? And Cat can figure out that Barry is the Flash, yet bought that Kara isn't Supergirl?
-I didn't like Barry having his mask off so much. Sure it's not his Earth, and I didn't catch it if they said he has a doppelganger on this Earth or not, but still if for no other reason to keep the practice of keeping your identity secret, he should've kept his mask on more.
-Nice team up of Livewire and Silver Banshee, however I think the big fight was underwhelming. And they got taken out way too easily. Supergirl was downed way too easily as well. In the barn fight, does Banshee now have super strength? How was she able to knock down Supergirl with a punch? Stylistically, I wish the villains' costumes had been better and also that they give Livewire a short and spiky haircut the next time.

I think the Arrow/Flash crossovers generally have been handled better. And it's a shame because Kara and Barry have such good chemistry.
