Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

I still hope for Tom Welling as Superman or Henry Cavill but I think he is too expensive, for a few cameos

The Superman we saw in the pilot looked a bit too thin for Welling anyway (at least judging by his appearance in the last couple seasons).

I think I would totally give up the chance for a crossover with the CW shows if it meant we could see Routh playing Superman again, even in a cameo (although it would obviously have to be a different Superman than he played before).

Just get Brandon Routh as Superman! :p

ETA: I'd be so happy if they can get Cassidy Freeman on Supergirl. :adore:

Yeah the way Benoist has described it, when Kara puts on the suit it's pretty much just as empowering for her as it is for the actress. So I do think there's a part of that shy and awkward disguise of hers that is her true self. She probably just amps it up a bit more for the office.

The thing I'm trying to get across is, yes, it's an assumed persona, but it's not something she made up to hide being Supergirl, it's an identity she's spent a dozen years shaping herself into. It's an act in the same way that every one of us puts on an act in public, the way we shape ourselves to fit in or conform to expectations or win people's approval or avoid making waves. And now that Kara has decided to embrace the powerful side of herself, that will probably lead her to change the everyday persona she puts on. How she acts outwardly will be a manifestation of her exploration of herself. This isn't the usual, simple binary civilian/hero identity cliche, because her identity is in flux.

We can all wear masks from time to time, as Chistopher says to conform to expectations, to fit in etc... So do we find it liberating when we don't wear that mask and be ourselves?

I would love to see Freeman. Not since Wheaton have I experienced such a disparity between how much a liked the actor/hated the character. I would be great to see her in a different role--I've never seen Longmire. But all would be meaningless if they don't let her sing.

That whole family is pretty awesome. Crispin is easily one of my three or four favorite videogame/anime voice actors.

Nice preview.
I finally saw the premiere when they reaired it tonight and I really enjoyed. It definitely fits really well with Flash and Arrow even if it isn't in that universe.
Benoist is great in the role. I thought the rest of the cast was pretty good to. I was curious to see how the handled the older James Olson, and I really like him here. I saw earlier in the thread that some people didn't like Henshaw, but I didn't think we really saw enough of him to form a real opinion. I didn't mind Cat Grant, she is kind of a steriotypical tough boss, but she was I didn't mind her that much.
I was hoping for a little bit more with villain, but since this was the pilot and they had a lot to set up in the hour, I can forgive that.
We got some pretty good action, and effects here.
At first I thought maybe the General was going to be Lara In-Ze, but the preview showed Kara calling her Aunt Astra and she's played by the same actress as Alura, so I'm assuming that means she's Alura's sister. Is she a character from the comics? I've never come across references in stuff about the comic to Kara having any family besides the her and Superman's parents.
Is Kara's name usually pronounced the way it is here? I swore most of the other versions I've seen pronounced it the way that name is usually pronounced.

Who's that? I know of Lara Lor-Van (Kal-El's mother) and Alura In-Ze (Kara's mother), but there's no Lara In-Ze that I can find a reference to.

No, she's original to the show.

I don't remember. But since they decided to call her Kara Danvers instead of Linda Danvers, it's possible they went with the "Kah-ra" pronunciation to differentiate her from Carol Danvers of Marvel's upcoming Captain Marvel movie.

Thought the actress playing Supergirl was fairly likable, though the pilot felt pretty flat for the most part.
