Super Bowl flub in the National Anthem?

:wtf:

You obviously don't understand how big an event the Super Bowl is in America.

What the fuck does the size of the event have to do with anything? We're talking about the fact that Humans aren't infallible, and no matter how many times you learn and practice something, it is still entirely possible to fuck it up on the night. How is that so difficult to understand?
OK by that logic if a doctor makes a mistake that kills someone, it's OK because it was just a mistake. Or say your bank account gets irrevocably erased by a mistake it would still be fine by you.

Yeah, it's not like there's any difference between those things. Flubbing a national anthem is obviously just as bad as killing someone.

[edit] :sigh:

Forget the lyrics anyway, what's more concerning is that the whole performance was like listening to somebody strangling a cat.

Logic has absolutely nothing to do with anything you just posted there. If you think those situations are in any way analogous to what I'm talking about, then you have a very poor understanding of the point.

Did she remember the part about the dawnzer? It's a type of lamp that gives off lee light.

BTW it seems as if Xtina is on a bit of a spiral these days. I think she and Britney must have some kind of pact that when one is crazy the other has to be same and vice versa.

Note to NFL..

No more Pop Tramps singing the national anthem...

Use someone who will take it seriously... maybe an Opera singer... Or a Gospel singer...

Calling her a pop tart or pop tramp is uncalled for. There's no need to insult her character for messing up the anthem.

People who can sing shouldn't sing national anthems - they don't get it right.

Actually i agree with you. I would prefer to see someone a little more respectful singing the national anthem. And certainly someone who wouldn't mess up the words. That really was atrocious.

While I find the situation amusing, this talk of it being "disrespectful" is a bit much. Disrespectful would be if she came out and said "Go fuck yourself, America!" and pissed on the flag. This is just a mistake. A hilarious mistake, especially if it was because of a Wiki edit of the National Anthem lyrics, but a mistake nonetheless.

Our national anthem is actually pretty notorious for wreaking havoc with professional singers and amateurs alike both lyrically and because of its wide range, which is one of the reasons why it's often prerecorded at sporting events (other reasons include acoustics of the stadium and weather). I guess they just decided to go live with this one since Aguilera has done it before without problems.

What a fucking joke. A pop tart singing the Anthem with all the attention on HER. It's all about HER. She screws up and it's about HER. That's pathetic. That's just plain wrong. The National Anthem is to be sung/performed by all those present. "Please join in singing." Aguilara should have been leading the singing, not performing a solo.

Next time, get the President's Own Marine Band to play it while encouraging the audience to join in singing. I hear they don't make mistakes. Ever. In fact, I've heard them lead it three times in my life. No fuck ups at ALL. And everybody tends to sing along.

Why does the NFL hate America?
+1, and

Enough with the bloody extra notes, showoff warbling and crooning, and a super-drawn out waaaaave: it's a bloody English drinking tune, people! It'd be far better to pound a beer right after your performance than try to make it some super-pretty (read: stomach-churning) vocal metaphor for the whole human spirit. :klingon:

Kind of amusing, but can't see that it's a big deal. Definitely not worth the incredible amount of attention that it's getting.

Indeed.

I don't think he's calling her a pop tart (or pop tramp) because she messed up the lyrics. I think he's calling her that because of the way she presents herself in her videos. But i could be wrong.

In any event, is it the end of the world? No.
Has it happened before? Yes.
Would i prefer to see someone with a little more talent sing it? Yes.
Would i prefer the singer to not screw up the words? Most definitely.

I'd prefer to see a full band play the National Anthem, with the crowd singing along.

But, that also reminds me of one major screw-up way back in high school. Our band had formed a big arc around midfield, with the drumline in the middle (I was one of the drummers). Started off with a roll as usual, and then the band came in. Since I was in the middle of the drums, I could only hear the instruments on my right that were closest to me. When we got to the middle part where the drums cut out, I really wish I could have seen the faces on all the drummers when we heard the rest of the band - the two halves of the band on either side of us were off from each other by a couple of beats, effectively playing the National Anthem in rounds! After that performance, we pulled the drums back and connected the two halves of the band, and never played in that formation again.

Not because she messed up the anthem..no..

because that's how she's portrayed herself in the media...

following in the footsteps of Madonna, Britney Spears and the like..

(Not that they lack talent..but that they seem to take things like the National Anthem lightly.. My wife's from Brazil studying for her citizenship as we speak and SHE knew that it was botched...)

I don't like that warbly style used for the national anthem or much of anything actually. It's all about the singer and not the song. the song gets lost in all those extra notes. Makes me want to tell them to get on with it already!
