Super Bowl Commercial on YouTube

Why is it that the Enterprise looks better each time we get another glimpse of her?

I don't know, but maybe you could answer me why it is that the Enterprise looks worse each time we get another glimpse of her, and she looked pretty horrible to begin with?

Trailers and ads like this are designed to catch your attention, and i think this did the job. Cool ad with some new stuff mixed in. I loved it and didn't see anything in there worth worrying too much about.

Some stuff i noticed. When Bones said "Leonard McCoy", he sounded pissed off to me. The Enterprise firing off phasers too looked like how they did phasers in TWOK (bursts instead of a continuous beam we would see later in TNG and later). Kirks line while being grilled by Pike isnt a concern to me. Im sure I've said worse things after getting the liquor in me.

I also was thinking about the attack on San Francisco, more precisely WHEN? Is this when Kirk is at the Academy, before, or later on? Just wondering out loud, i dont really expect a concrete answer, im more than willing to find out come May.

btw, someone did mention that they prefer bad Trek to no Trek. I agree :)

All in all good stuff. Im sure I'll watch it a dozen or so more times during the course of the day.

I literally just saw the trailer now. I'm looking forward to it. Everything looked good.

All the problems I had with the TNG movies seem to have been nullified. If this movie doesn't do it, then all the talk over the last few years about what direction the franchise should go in is academic.

It's still strange having a Captain Kirk who's the same age as myself, but it works. I assume the guy giving Kirk the pep-talk is his father.

So far Abrams and Co. have done a good job in confusing people about the order of this film. The only thing they have admitted was the USS Kelvin battle at the opening. I think it has also been said that the Vulcan skydiving sequence is NOT at the end?

Maybe it's a regional thing, like Soda vs. Pop.

Go to an amusement parks with thrill rides. Pick a park frequented by an international crowd. Count the number of times you hear folks scream "yippee" vs. "woohoo!"

I've been to Disney World, Universal Studios (both coasts), and Busch Gardens, Tampa. I don't ever recall someone yelling "yippee!" Ever.

From what I can tell:

Kelvin Attack > Kirk & Spock Growing up > Kirk bar fight > Academy > Vulcan Attack > Kirk stranded on Ice Planet > Kirk gains control of Enterprise > Earth Attack > ?

Well, the Enterprise looks great in this ad - really, every shot of it that's actually from the movie looks pretty damned cool so far.

Love the shot of Pine/Kirk looking up at it being built on the ground every time they show it.

I imagine the entire final act of the film hasn't been shown or hinted at. Could be anything, but the big action sequence on Vulcan is not the climax of the film.

Um I think you just insulted the TOS and TMP-TUC Enterprise designs considering the angle used in the add.
Can we just not respond to what was pretty obviously baiting? That conversation is a dead end, and there's no good reason for anyone to go there.

Putting myself FIRMLY in Alternate Universe mode, this looks interesting, though I have a few things I still dislike, such as the cinematography (too gritty and grainy in some shots, too washed out in others). I'm also not a big fan of the new transporter effect or the phaser fire.
