Summon the Thunder (Spoilers)

Re: Summon the Thunder (Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

^ Page counts are not an accurate measure of a book's content; fluctuations in type size and spacing can alter the number of words per page.

I have assured Marco that I will do my best to bring in Reap the Whirlwind at fewer than 125,000 words, but I can't make any promises. ;)

For comparison, the approximate word counts on some of my recent books:

Wildfire -- 52,000 words

A Time to Kill -- 72,000 words

A Time to Heal -- 81,000 words

Harbinger -- 94,000 words

Road of Bones (upcoming) -- 87,000 words

Believe me, if I could have told RTW in fewer words, I would have; I don't get paid extra for writing more words than my contract calls for. It's just that the story is, well ... big. :D

Re: Summon the Thunder (Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Cool, so it will be long then. And that's a good thing because I like long books.

What is this? I can't recall seeing it mentioned in any summaries of upcoming books.

Re: Summon the Thunder (Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

^It's a Wolverine novel from the Pocket/Marvel line.

Not to be snotty or anything, but you could just do what I do and reread the book(s) leading up to the new one.

I have so many other books to read that I barely have time to re-read my absolutely favortie books.

Anyhow I just finished StT and I liked it but not as much as Harbinger. I felt that this book was a little too drawn out and a little too wordy. However, the final five chapters were great and I'm glad to see that the Romulans are getting involved. That was a great cliffhanger for the next book.

Part of me was hoping she was gonna say "Daredevil" or "Kabuki."

Because I'm an ass.

Wasn't the name of the Annual Chili Cook-off Winner "Summon the Thunder"?

^ Reap the Whirlwind is not intended to be the "last" book in the Vanguard saga. Potential future arcs in the saga have been discussed at length, and RTW is being written to set up some of those new directions. As long as readers keep buying the Vanguard books, the series has the potential to continue for a considerable length of time.

This 40th Celebration thing really is fantastic. Read the 1st couple of vanguard things - new characters, new stories - more power to your pens I say. Seems a long time ago now I started reading James Blishes adaptations of the classic series - so anything that takes us back to duotronics and cylindrical warp nacelles I am all for. Looking forward to it already.

Cheers for the read by the way :D

Re: Summon the Thunder (Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

^ Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. With a little luck, I might be done writing Reap the Whirlwind about a month from now....

Re: Summon the Thunder (Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

^ I'm sure Marco and the folks at Pocket have that covered. But thanks for offering. ;)

Re: Summon the Thunder (Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
