Summer Plans!

Longest holiday this year until retirement... but also the poorest.

I have my graduation at the end of the month and I have to move house in a few weeks, but I'm going to spend most of July travelling. Some time with family in England, and I'm catching the train to Paris to spend Bastille Day there.

The wife and kids are home for the summer (Mrs. 1001001 teaches third grade).

We were supposed to go see U2 in Oakland next week, but that ain't happening now.

:scream:

I'm going to Washington DC in a few weeks to present at a conference. I'm looking forward to that.

Then in August the wife and I are going to Las Vegas for a few days, seeing Rush's Time Machine Tour.

I think that's about it.

Finishing a condensed summer class next week so I can enjoy the rest of my summer without class hanging over my head.

Leaving next Friday for 10 days in the Canadian Maritime wilderness. Taking our Labradors to Labrador.

No vacation plans for this summer as we spent money home improving this spring, but i will be meeting up with friends in Cleveland this July. Looking forward to that.

I will be for 3 or 4 weeks in England/ Southampton....mostly being busy with English grammar I suppose (my stipend people are sending me there for a course).

Others than that, term- examinations, visiting family and friends and in late summer our practical working time starts.

TerokNor

Pretty much just work. The office job is offering me full time for the summer while others vacation, the retail job is offering 30 hours a week, and the guy I do graphic work for keeps picking up new iPhone app gigs for us. I was hoping to get to Creation Vegas, but my retail manager just announced "no time off requests" for August. *sigh*

The good news is, I won't have time to eat, so I'll be rich and skinny by September.

No idea. Staying in Paris certainly, giving wrong informations to tourists :p

 All tourists, or just the ones who obviously made no effort to learn a bit of the language and can't be bothered to read maps? ;)

I used my equivalent break to hit Vegas. Loads of fun.

Besides, don't be pessimistic. With efficiency savings and other assorted cuts, you might have another long holiday sooner than you think. ;)

My favourite occupation in my touristy city too. :D

I don't have any specific plans this summer. I've got a couple of weeks off in a few weeks time, but haven't booked anything. I've spent some rather silly amounts of money over the past month on wine, clothes, new glasses, big household appliances and other random stuff, so I may just enjoy the time off by pootling around the local area rather than going abroad.

This time next year, though, I'll be less than a couple of months from retirement from employment. I'll probably take a couple of months completely off before starting some self-employed projects so I'm postponing most of my "want to do" stuff until then.

Apart from attending a cousin's wedding in a month, my main plan for the summer is to routinely shake my fist at the god of air-conditioning while loudly proclaiming that he has forsaken me.

Yep, that's about it.

:D

I suppose I'll post my own plans. I'm in my last week of the quarter (finals) but I'm taking summer classes as well. I decided to only do one session, so I have a month off but I've got other sorts of exams and work and plenty to keep me busy in that time.

This Friday we're leaving to go to Michigan for a week where my husband's grandparents have a cottage on the lake. It'll be nice to visit them at their farm, too. There's not a whole lot to do up there, it's a tiny city, but I get to go outside without dying and there's a beach and everything. I just want to bring like 40 books with me and sit out and read every day. Plus Mackinac Island is nearby, so maybe we'll do a day trip there on my birthday. I've never been.

The rest of the summer will be filled with parties, wedding plans for my friends getting married, etc. All my weekends from now until the end of my life are booked, I swear.

Well, the highlight of my summer is that I hope to go on a tour at the Shiner brewery. Hoping to get a cal from a government agency that they want to hire me-which would involve moving from Texas to Alabama. Other than that, just work.

Gonna spend a few weeks in Holland with kiddo and the boyfriend :) Then it is work, work work and a little play.

My friends and I are planning to visit Sweden this summer. We're considering going on a city trip to either Götheborg or Stockholm.
