Summer Glau Joins The Cape...

Oh my goodness Christopher let it go. I'm not making threats against you or the woman. I said my piece on her, genre tv, the industry as a whole, and more. Other posters responded with agreement and disagreement, we moved on. I didn't set out to personally attack you, her, or anyone else, so you should not do so to me. Simply put, end of story. Let it go.

I now have an image of Christopher in my head running behind you, trying to keep up,with a trail of computer paper 20 feet long proving that your opinon is wrong to 3 decimal places.
Those are some really long posts by someone who's supposed to be charging money for his words!

Vinnie Jones, who’s already played the supervillain Juggernaut in “X-Men: The Last Stand,” will play a reptilian criminal named Scales in NBC’s new post-“Heroes” superhero series “The Cape.”

This development reminds me of Ray Park, who played The Toad in "X-Men" before he appeared as a supervillain in the final season of "Heroes."

The new series, from writer Tom Wheeler (ABC’s 2005 Ancient Rome miniseries “Empire”), follows a non-superpowered fellow who assumes a new identity to fight crime.

Vinnie Jones Becomes A Series Regular On The Cape
In the pilot, Jones played “Scales,” described as “a frightening man with a freakish skin condition that gives him the appearance of green and gold scales.” Originally it was just a guest role.

So... am I seeing this correctly, people are not interested in this, because the title of the series is "The Cape"? Lame... Anyway, some don't like it, some will, some like Glau, some don't, but the back and forth I am seeing on this topic just seems asinine, I myself wouldn't call her a failure, but regardless of cancellations or not (and as it's been said, she wouldn't be the only one...), she does get a lot of work. Last I read, her offers were beginning to be numerous enough that she could pick and choose, to me if you can pick and choose at a whim and hearts desire, you've done pretty good.

Anyway, I will check this out, if not because of the premise and Summer Glau, because quite frankly, there's not going to be anything else on.

I will check it out because of the premise and Glau. I'm hungry for anything even remotely superhero-esque, so I'll be at least trying this and "No Ordinary Family." I didn't watch Sarah Connor because I'm not in to Terminator, and I wasn't watching Dollhouse before she joined, so I didn't start when she came on. But I do still think it would be kinda neat to see her in a different sort of role. And it would be cool if four different Firefly alums were in successful shows.

Four? Let's see, Nathan Fillion's in Castle... Adam Baldwin's in that Chuck thing. And oh, do you mean Morena Baccarin in V? That one's kind of marginally successful; it barely squeaked through with a renewal and only really got one because it had a good lead-in and a relatively modest budget. I'll be surprised if it makes it to the end of next season.

Regardless though, it is something that's coming back for a second season, but....funny, that would be counted in as a success for it, but SCC is "barely" as such for making it. Bah.

Anyway, I think it's pretty cool, not hat I really watch Chuck, or V (I fell behind and haven't bothered to catch up, as much as I love Morena Baccarin on my TV screen). I don;t watch Castle either, and people treat me like I have lobsters crawling out of my ears because of it.

Still, lets see if the Cape can even make it through its first season...

Fair enough. I guess I was just trying to be optimistic for a change. (But don't go knocking Chuck! That show's only getting better.)

Is 'squeaked through with a renewal' different from 'yahoo, the show got renewed!'?

In terms of expectations, yes. If it had been renewed because of smash ratings and critical acclaim, that would lead one to expect that it was likely to do well next season and maybe get a third season and thereby be reasonably described as a successful show in the same way that Castle and Chuck are successful. Instead, it's a lousy show with modest ratings, and its survival owes more to a strong lead-in, a low budget, and ABC's desperate need for some kind of genre-themed show to replace Lost than to any of the usual grounds for calling a show successful. If any of those factors had been different, V would be as dead right now as Flashforward.

Not to mention that V hasn't even been formally placed on ABC's 2010-11 schedule yet, and will only be a midseason replacement. That means a very long gap between seasons, something which will probably mean a further loss of viewers. It means another short season like this one, not a lot of time to rebuild a fanbase. It means there's no way of telling if it'll have a good time slot.

So as successes go, this renewal is about as tenuous as it gets.

I'll check out The Cape whenever it airs here. But I'm looking forward to meeting her this weekend, when she comes to Australia for Supanova. :)

I'm looking forward to it too. But NBC sucks so it'll probably get cancelled almost immediately.

Summer Glau looks...yummy.

Actually considering NBC's recent track record with low rated shows surviving like Heroes and Chuck along with other 5mil or less viewers with Community and Outsourced NBC is the best bet for some type of run. At least 13 episodes.

Actually, since NBC has been struggling, they're slow to kill shows. Last year they gave full seasons to Trauma and Mercy.

Kind of sensing a Robin-esque vigilante. Could just be the circus background though. A little bit of JacksonArcher's Fallen short, trailer as well, haha

I just hope this series is at least as good as Smallville:)
