"Sully" retiring

Hero pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger retired from US Airways on Wednesday, saying he wants to spend more time advocating for aviation safety and pursuing opportunities resulting from the "Miracle on the Hudson."

Translation: "If there's a movie I'm set for life."

At Obama's innauguration Sully stood with Senator Jim Bunning, of Kentucky, because some people have to make the hard calls.

It must be the greatest feeling in the world to know that you've saved a bunch of lives. Enjoy your retirement, Sully. :bolian:

Surviving a plane crash can be pretty traumatic, especially when you were at the helm. I can't blame him from wanting to step away from actively flying planes for a living.

4 years ago he would've been forced to retire in less than a year anyway. (FAA changed max age from 60 to 65.) He may have never changed his plans to retire at 60.
