Most of the criticism I've seen isn't that it's dark, simply that it's not very good.
Which is why the WB had the courage of its artistic convictions, and embraced a hard-R rating! Right? This is a movie about a bunch of bad guys, it would be ridiculous to expect it to not be dark. I can see not wanting a Superman movie to be dark, but this is really the kind of movie that should be at least a bit darker than the usual Marvel style superhero movie.
This reviewer seemed to have had a good time.It was fairly obvious from the trailers what BvS & MoS were going to be, but so far I've liked what I've seen of Suicide Squad so I think I will give them the benefit of the doubt, despite the negative rumblings.
All I'm hoping for is that it's going to be fun, demented and doesn't take itself too seriously. Nothing mind blowing, just a fun movie. Remember fun? I miss fun sometimes.
A movie about a wide range of grossly different characters with grossly different stories and grossly different backgrounds isn't very consistent? Doubly so considering how it all revolves around a complete and utter lunatic, while simultaneously including some rather simple and straightforward characters relatively speaking? Color me surprised.A lot of criticism is directed at its inconsistent tone.
I really don't think most of these reviewers knew or understood what they were going in to see. Being inconsistent is sort of a given, all things considered.
Doubly so considering how it all revolves around a complete and utter lunatic...

It seems there is a petition to shut down RT due to the low score that the movie is getting. I just laugh at those fans for being so stupid.
Anyways, I'll still see the movie sometime this weekend. Other things for me are more important than this movie at the moment for me.
Not sure whether you mean Harley or the Joker, but the reviews seem to agree that the former is second in prominence to Deadshot and the latter is underutilized and underdeveloped. So it apparently doesn't revolve around either lunatic.
I'm glad I didn't pre-book tickets. I'll be waiting for reviews and audience reactions to all DCU releases from this point on before handing over my money
I am making up my own mind. As I said, I was on the fence anyway. Why should I still bother with it after such a wave of bad reviews when I wasn't that jazzed in the first place? I was so-so on Man of Steel and hated Bat v Supes, so why would I continue to go see movies at the cinema that do not satisfy me? As the rest of my post said, I'll still see it at some point on home release, which is when I'll decide for myself if the film is any good. Until then, I'm just hoping and waiting for a kick-ass DCU movie. It's coming. Why? Why not make up your own mind on whether or not to see a film? Why allow film critics dictate what you do or don't see in the theaters? They're not the last word on the quality of any film. You are. I am. Just about every individual moviegoer.
