Stupid TV/Movie Character Tricks

^YES! How did I forget that? "Someone amongst us is bad... let's all go our seperate ways to let him pick us off one by one!" Good call, sir! :techman:

using multi-coloured wires on a bomb so you can have that 'red wire, blue wire' shit. why don't they just use all red wires and done with it?!

First of all, let me say this is really weird. I started to write a new thread on this very topic yesterday but was called away so I didn't finish writing the post. But it was almost identical to Trekker's topic. Mine was "Least favorite TV/Movie tricks". So thanks for saving me some time, Trekker!

I hate car chases where the vehicle being chased completely outmatches the pursuit vehicle and yet can't get away. It will show this Dodge Viper accelerating as fast as it can, shifting through gears, just winding it out in close-ups, and yet the guy in the Ford Econoline van with the machine gun is only 100 feet from his rear bumper after several minutes? I would have lost the douche in my Mazda!

Similar to Trekker, I also hate mistaken identity/frame-up situations. The writers almost invariably ask me to believe that the character (and the police) will do something or think a certain way that no sane person would. I just sit there the whole time saying "Why didn't you do this? Why didn't they do that?".

I will suspend my disbelief for giant talking robots from outer space, but not things like modern day characters doing incredibly idiotic things just to set up a story. It's almost like a "reverse deus ex machina", where the writer lazily pulls the set up at the beginning of the story out from his ass and just expects you to buy it because if you don't the rest of the story can't be told.

when adam and peter are trying to enter the vault to destroy the virus why doesn’t peter use his powers so that him and adam can simply walk through the vault door like how they escaped from the company jail cell in previous episodes but know instead peter spends a large part of the episode trying to rip with vault door open with telekinesis while adam stands by silently

That's the stupid hero syndrome. They made Peter so powerful they had to dumb him up to counter his power. Why Adam didn't suggest it, I have no idea.

How was Adam going to destroy the virus anyway? Chop it up with his sword...? And why didn't Peter read Adam's mind after EVERYBODY kept telling him how Adam was actually the bad guy?

Reminds me of the MST3K Episode "The Final Sacrifice" at one point in it a boy is fleeing from murderous cult members on a 10-speed. The men in a Gran Torino - a car- CANNOT catch-up to and overtake the weakling on a 10-speed. As Servo said in that episode, "Maybe it's that cheap Canadian gas. Can't get up any speed?"

I wouldn't think putting a big red timer on a bomb would be too dumb, since the villain would need to know how much time they have to put a large distance between themselves and their hopefully ensuing explosion. But then again, you would think they would somehow have the means to have a detachable timer or something!

A detachable timer like a wristwatch? Set the bomb for 20 minutes and scram. There's no need for any display on the bomb itself. Your wristwatch will tell you how fast you need to move.

Because Peter is as thick as an elephant's arse, that's why. :D

Um, what about when the person KNOWS there is a bad guy/situation, and yet they still climb up the stairs or go down to the basement?:wtf: Holy crap! You don't go LOOKING for the trouble!

And another one that bugs me: the girl in the movie is either wearing heels or non-running shoes and trips and falls and the creature/bad guy/ whatever gets her. I mean come on. Hate that crap!:p

The baddies outnumber the goodie by six to one (or whatever), yet they attack one at a time and are easily dispensed with.

On a vaguely topic-related note... The baddies can't hit anything with a machine gun from three paces unless the plot requires it. The goodie(s) can hit anything with any weapon from kilometres away.

I was feeling left out.
