Stuff that make you wonder but not own thread worthy

While pondering the matter of the Kreetasians, let's look at "Resolutions". Consider that Tuvok was placed in command of Voyager by Janeway. However, he didn't act like he was in charge... he didn't wear a red uniform, or the proper rank insignia. And, there's no evidence that he altered the command structure to compensate, such as choosing a first officer. Do you think he simply regarded it as illogical? Or was there some secret wishful thinking going on here?

I would assume the latter.

After all, as long as the chain of command and the job descriptions are clear, you probably don't immediately need to bump up someone to Commander because the XO 'should' be one, that can wait for a while. But neither is it logical to delay it, if you really believe you're leaving your CO and XO permanently behind.

Perhaps he simply wasn't authorised to formally grant promotions. Perhaps that's a privilege that only comes with the rank of Captain and we never hear he got a provisional captain rank (even though Paris says he's captain now, he could be referring to the position of Captain rather than the rank).

Yeah I think Tuvok was captain like Jadzia was captain. I don't think she changed uniform and neither did Data when Picard and Riker were kidnapped, although he did under Jellico. I was going to say the producers didn't want to spend money on a uniform Tuvok would wear for one episode but then Data had one made for him for one episode, well two if it was the same as "Future Imperfect." I wonder if his XO would have been Tom.

I was thinking how they used stock footage of the Excelsior-class ships when someone rendezvoused with the Enterprise and wondering if they could have filmed similar shots but with the Ambassador and Nebula models. I also wondered about whether they could have designed the Stargazer to be more a contemporary of the Enterprise so they could have reused that model as well.
I love the idea someone had of the Hathaway being the Stargazer in "Peak Performance." Maybe it's small universe syndrome but I get a kick out of the idea of Enterprise vs Stargazer Round 2.

If the timeline from Yesterdays Enterprise was allowed to continue and both the Enterprise C and D rocked up at a star base, would they have re-named one of the ships or had two separate Enterprises fighting the Klingons.

I always interpreted the end of the episode as the D's last stand. If the C joined them, maybe they'd have a chance to survive. But Picard says Starfleet expects to fall within 6 months, so I doubt ship names would be a priority for them.

The C was ready to leave pretty early in the episode. If Picard hadn’t landed so heavily on them going back to the battle, there would’ve been no confrontation with the Klingons.

The music in "The Enemy" is really good. Also I love Riker raging at everyone in this episode.

I feel like it would be the latter but that's only my opinion. When I was a kid I used to make starships and made stories for them. I lost one for a bit and made a successor to it and then I found the original and so I had the story go a bit like "Cause and Effect" and the Bozeman where it skipped over a bunch of years, and so had that original ship and it's successor serving together. But on the other hand there's a poster here who likes the idea that the Enterprise-B is the Lakota and I think that's just as valid.

I guess the dolphins in Cetacean Ops were always in potentially hazardous situations like anyone on that ship, but I was just thinking of them in "Yesterday's Enterprise" helping come up with battle plans for the war or something.
I would have loved seeing the conversation Beverly had with Wesley about her going back to Earth for a year.

What the... I... how... it...

What the hell did I just watch? I feel like I looked into a parallel universe, my brain got removed, and... something happened.

What is the drip? Is it some new drug? Because I feel like that was some weird acid trip.

Drip means you have swagger, especially in how you look. You're hot. You're cool. You're on point.

Some guy started creating all these AI generated Balenciaga commercials that uses casts from popular movies and tv series. I think it started with a harry potter themed commercial and it snowballed from there. It is really trippy to watch.

'Really trippy to watch' is putting it very mildly.

Drip... is that a recent term for swagger in clothes?

I thought it meant having a snotty nose. But then, I also thought "sick" meant ill, and "dank" meant wet and chilly.

Consonantal shift aside, and that usually required centuries, there is a separate issue where words' meanings are altered or given antonyms as comparable definitions now. Like how "drop" once meant "to let fall, or to discontinue", but now is a synonym for "release for general viewing/use/etc". Never mind most people saying it lack the inflection that doubtlessly made the changes seem popular and "cool" as a result. There should be a reasonable middle ground to prevent this dumb mucking up from happening. After all, "tech" is the first syllable of six or seven distinctly different words and everyone just parrots "tech" and it's almost amusing. Never mind "because ____" without those pesky collegiate terms such as "of" being slapped in the middle, all while forgetting someone who knew inflection for - in this case - comedic intent - stripped out "of" and people liked and then repeated it - but without the verbal nuance that made it "cool" in the first place, never mind how no fourth grade teacher in their right mind would give anyone any grade above C- for such an effort, but I digress: The end result is, shall we say, "tacky". And not in the "sticky gooey substance" sort of way, but as metaphorical similarity, I guess.

But I digress; being informal is a considerable change of venue and that's a given... :D

"Sick" does mean ill, not "super awesome cool, dude" and "dank" meant "icky, slimy, gross, moldy and damp". Never heard it as a synonym for "chilly" before.
