STTE events at the Creation Con and closing

I have it on reliable authority that any baseballs left will be donated to various Boys and Girls Clubs and other youth organizations.

Man, I got quite a bit of closure this past weekend but I'm gonna be a mess when they start naming names of the current employees as they walk out of the Experience for the last time.

So just what do they plan to do with it? Just dimantle it and save what's savable and destroy the rest and toss it in the trash heap?

Is there any plans for an installation somewhere else or giving the sets to the filmmakers?

That's pretty much it so I'm finally breaking down and buying a good digital camera to record as much of it as possible.

Yep. What belongs to CBS goes to them, what belongs to Paramount goes to them, what belongs to The Experience itself will be auctioned off and the rest is to be "destroyed beyond recognition", as the employees said. That includes the Ent-D bridge. :(

Some of the costumes, props, and set pieces belong to CBS/Paramount and will be returned, the rest will be thrown out.

A Rep from the CBS products division at the new products session of the Con said that they couldn't just scoop everything up and move it somewhere, but he did concede that some kind of Trek Themed place in the future hasn't been completely ruled out and they are considering all their options. Take that info for what it's worth.

When I took the behind the scenes tour last week the guide said that the props were going to be picked up by Paramount and shipped back to storage. And since construction couldn't put the roof on the ride until the shuttlepods were in place there is no choice but to dismantle (read destroy) the ride to get everything out.

I've said my sad goodbyes but it still hurts. The absence of The Experience will make the decision of going to next years con a little harder.

Thanks for the baseball idea! My family and I will be visiting next week.

You bet I'll be leaving a baseball.

Should one write something on the baseball? Sign it, leave a web address, something nasty to the people who are closing the show, some sad farewell?

I'll think of something.

I was just going to sign and put the dates when I worked there. I'm sure pithy comments will be appreciated by the current management as well .

I just spent yesterday (Friday August 22, 2008) at STTE and had a great time. As noted above, they are already dismantling the place. Zek's, The Latinum, and Garak's are gone, so my plan of maybe getting a uniform was unfulfilled.

We got the Behind the Scenes Tour, and the guide, who said this was his last tour, said that all the stuff in the Museum of the Future would go back into Paramounts vault, since they owned that outright. Because of a tangle of contractual and licensing obligations, EVERYTHING else would be destroyed. Including the ships! OMG, so sad. Also sad seeing the notices at the operations desk from the Nevada State Dept. of Employment about where to call for unemployment services.

We had a great time. The rides were fully functional, everything in the museum is still there, the food a Quark's was surprisingly good. The Borg'd bears were the hit of the shopping for the family. And my daughter looked great in the DS9 uniform that she made herself. I'll post pictures on my log entry once I get to it.

I left a baseball. I wrote on it "ST Experience: The ONLY reason I came to Vegas, and the only reason I will EVER come back."

^Hey, S'kai, my husband and I were there too on Friday. We did both rides on Friday and spent the evening in the bar. Oh, and had our caricatures done (I'm a well-endowed Bajoran now!). We did the behind-the-scenes tour on Saturday and spent the rest of the time in the bar again. Met lots of fun people!

Hi, I'm new to this message board, I signed up specifically because of the closing of the Experience. I've been going there ten years, and I'm absolutely devastated at its closing.

Is there any truth to the little glimmer of hope that is shed in this article? About it possibly being reopened somewhere else? http://roddenberry.com/TwoStripsofLatinumExperiencetheEnd.209.news

Also, is the Decommissioning Ceremony going to be recorded? I would dearly love to see it. It'll probably make me cry, but maybe it would give me some closure.
