STTE events at the Creation Con and closing

Hey, kids,

How about this; I was sitting in Quark's tonight with a couple of locals and we brainstormed an idea to send off the Experience and make one last protest to its closing.

Leave a baseball.

Just like Sisko when he evacuated the station to let Dukat know he'd be back for it.

On your last visit to Quark's, leave a baseball with your signature on it. Let them know "you'll be back".

...and I'm going there tomorrow for three days @ the Hilton, most of it to be spent, of course, at STTE.

The "wall of memories" was very powerful. I particularly liked the stuff from children. This place will definitely be missed.

OMG, guys, if you missed getting any bottled Romulan Ale, fugeddaboudit. It's gone and I don't believe they're getting anymore in before closing. They're almost down to the bare walls so far as merchandise goes.

This weekend was crazy good fun (as usual). I'm glad my former compatriots got their moment of fame in the "Aliens Unmasked" panel. I believe everyone who attended got to get a glimpse of the remarkable people I had the pleasure of working with more than five years ago.

Sept. 1 will be insane. Bring your baseballs.

I just got back from the convention and I was wondering what happened to all the bottled Romulan Ale there.
I was also at the "Aliens Unmasked" panel but seeing as I'm no much of a sociable person, I didn't get to shake hands with the cast members.
Ah well. I had a blast nonetheless, and it will be very weird to not see the Experience there next year when I go again.

I was not at the con, but will be at STTE 8/31 and 9/1 for the closing ceremony... already have my reservations at the Hilton (last time I'll be staying there!) and am really looking forward to paying homage to the people and place one last time. It'll be kind of strange to see the shops stripped bare! I guess I missed my last shot at a case of Romulan Ale... I do still have one bottle I saved from my last purchase to keep as a collectible, and I also got one of the memorial bottles of spring water and a memorial glass, both with the opening and closing stardates printed on it along with the Experience delta shield logo.

I hope they'll still have Romulan Ale on tap at Quark's when I arrive! One, after all, can't drink Warp Core Breaches all day long!

Any chance the Aliens Unmasked panel was recorded? I gave up on conventions years ago as they got more and more commercial, more and more expensive and more and more crowded, but I really wsh I could have gotten to Vegas for that panel! I'd love to see it turn up on youtube. Sorry I missed it. Also, any info about the Klingon makeup class? How did that go?

I am really going to miss the place, but am relishing the chance to cheer the cast and celebrate that incredible place and atmosphere one last time. Never had more fun in my life anywhere.

I honestly couldn't tell you if it was being recorded but it wouldn't surprise me. There were a couple hundred loyal fans paying their respects to the people that truly made the Experience an experience. I was lucky enough to do it for five years but many of these folks have been at it for around ten years in one capacity or another.

I have a bottle of it on my desk upstairs. It is my office mascot.

Seems hard to imagine Vegas without The Experience. I wish I had been able to go back to see it again, but I rarely travel out west. I'm glad I got to see it once. Quark's alone was worth the price of admission.

I was there this weekend, I had an absolutely amazing time.

I met T'Pril! My friend and I talked to her for a good 20 minutes or more last night (Sunday). Wonderful character, very good acting. My friend was hoping to see her in her Andorian character once more and though I will be returning to Minnesota, she lives here and probably will at the closing festivities.

Oh, what the heck. Pic time!

I'm really glad they decided to serve food (since they were not originally going to) because I was starving. And after it was over, I hung around the dessert table for a while....yummy.

Oh and they asked all 3 of my questions and my wifes question was asked also.

And....meeting Westmore and the grand nagus was sweet.

Plus, Picardo lives in one of the semi-ritzy suburbs in the hills north of Los Angeles, so it wouldn't be that big a chore for him to travel there.

I was thinking who would be good last night, and thought they might shoot for Admiral Nechayev, Ross or even Janeway to conduct the closing ceremony. OTOH I would hate to see someone with too much star power steal the spotlight from the STTE cast, who deserve all the love and attention we can lavish upon them on the last day.

Click on the photos section. Barry (formerly Dr. Vlarg, a Ferengi) posted many photos from the Con and the Aliens Unmasked panel. There's also a large Klingon featured prominently in several photos. My...er...his forehead looks grayer in the photos than they did in real life. This is a fairly common problem I'm told but I think a repaint is also in the cards.

What's the scoop on potential attendance for the closing on 9/1? Is it looking like it's going to be packed? I'm wondering if I should order a ride ticket before I leave for Vegas, or just wait until I get there. What happens if someone buys tickets online, but then the place is so packed on the 1st they can't get on the rides? (The tickets you buy online don't seem to be for any particular date.) Would they issue a refund?

Also what's the maximum capacity for the decommissioning ceremony?

I have every intention of attending and taking part in everything on the final day, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm at a bit of a disadvantage because I'm not local and I'm not arriving until early afternoon on 9/1. My plan is to get off the plane, check into my hotel and book it over to the Hilton for the rest of the day until they kick us out of the Experience.

What do you think my chances are of getting in?

I'm not sure but I think, judging from the number of people who say they will attend, it's going to be a madhouse. I'm also going to the bar right when it opens and not leaving for the rest of the day. I've talked to at least 6 other people who are doing the same.

As far as tickets go, get them when you get there. Just the locals alone are going to fill the line, not to mention any press and other out-of-towners who are making the last pilgrimage. If you order them online and can't actually get on the rides, just remember the first rule of acquisition; "Once you have their money, you never give it back."

Remember to bring your baseballs.

Yo to that. I'm spending the night on the 31st so I can be there as Quark's opens on the 1st. If I ride at all the last day, I'll leave my wife at the bar to hold my place!

Good advice on the first rule. That's kind of what I was afraid of.

What do you suppose they will do with all the baseballs? I am hoping they will give some thought to donating them to a worthy youth organization or something, once all the hoopla is done. Because I seriously doubt they will store crates of baseballs indefinitely and I would hate to think they'd be thrown away.

Yeah, I worry about stuff like that.
