I see they've announced ten celebs so far for this year's Strictly. I've never heard of *any* of them, beyond "Andy Murray's mum" - which itself strikes me as less than celebrity status. I think even the wife will give up on this year.

I’ve at least heard of some of them but so far it seems a pretty ragtag bunch and Andy Murray’s mum? Frankie Sandford is my favourite Saturday (which might not be saying very much) and I like Dr Zoe from Casualty, I have a feeling she might be spikey and fun to watch. Other than this it seems a bit meh.
That said its often the D list celebs you’ve never heard of who end up going all the way/making a good impression. Plus there’s still five dancers to reveal I think. I can’t imagine that at least one of them won’t be a “big gun”.

Heard of the name, no idea who she is. Some kind of pop singer, I think?
Thats right. She had one really big hit a few years back, but hasn't exactly faded from the scene. I think she might have a new album out (same as Sophie Ellix Bextor last year and in fact most singers who do Strictly!)
There was a rumour that they’d decided to lose a lot of the older contestants this year. I didn’t think they’d do that but obviously given the line-up so far it seems lacking in the older contestants (Judy Murray excepted). I guess I see the BBC’s point when you get someone like Tony Jacklin or Johnny Ball or Paul Daniels who never make it beyond the first week or so, but I still think this is a tactic that could backfire on the beeb, there have been plenty of older contestants who’ve gone a long way, just thinking Anita Dobson off the top of my head). Sure they’re not going to win it, but neither is Judy Murray or that woman who was in Big Brother. Strictly has fans of all ages, and especially given there’ll be no Bruce this year I wonder if a certain proportion of the older generations might tune out if they feel the show’s becoming younger.
That said the next three contestants might be Twiggy, Peter Davison and Lenny Henry for all we know!

They've now announced all the line-up, and the guy from Bargain Hunt and the bald cunt off Masterchef are the only two I've actually heard of. And I hate both the Masterchef presenters. Throw in a lack of Brucie and I suspect I'm definitely out of the audience...
