After seeing the anniversary offerings today, I'm very upset that they didn't give us another look at that hideous float, and some circus peanuts.
The least they could have offered was Akiva Goldsman's nudes.
I'm convinced Paramount going chapter 11, after Sheri Redstone and Les Moonves' epic failure at running the company would have been the best outcome.

Then we wouldn't have SNW, which as far as i'm concerned is worth more than most of the rest of it put together.

With SNW, I'm like eeewwww, it's written by Akiva Goldsman, everything he does sucks.
However, I think today, we glimpsed VFX for a remaster of DS9 and Voyager.
So in my eyes, Paramount might be vindicated.
Goldsman and Henry Alonzo Myers are SNW's joint showrunners. It was actually very good in the first season or two, but it's declined since.

I’m having a blast with season four. Actually got me interested in the show again.
It's got a great mix of TOS, TAS, and FARSCAPE. Which is not a bad group to take inspiration from.

My favorite dialogue from Axanar 2 is.
Captain/Admiral/whoever: X had a good idea.
Someone/anyone else: X was a fucking Genius.
Captain/Admiral/anyone else: Huh, huh, huh, smug chuckles.
And this same 3 step dialogue goes on for two straight hours.
If anyone envies Alec Peters' masterful writing, it's Neil Breen.
The only thing SFA got right in Breen's eyes was slick dialogue like "Programmable Matter".
In all seriousness Otoy seems to have recreated part of the intros for Voyager and DS9, while not totally accurate on DS9's intro (Still looked really good, and cut perfectly, but (apparently even the pros have trouble recreating that wipe the Rio Grande does.), I'm kinda shocked.
And also seem to have recreated the crash from timeless, separate from the surviving scene files. I figured if any company would be involved, Otoy might be the first company to handle being the VFX vendor, via the Roddenberry Archive.
Considering most of the old VFX crew is working with them.
But Redshift is gonna look amazing rendering out these FX.
I was expecting to glimpse that maybe in 2 years if the stars aligned and someone greenlit the Lord's work.
Looks like they care, now I'm obligated to collect 4k blurays of SNW, sadly in season 4, the only episodes I liked were 1 and 6. I didn't hate SFA.
I hate Picard 1 and 2 though, I don't think that's gonna change, I tried to watch them again, and see if they'd grow on me. Sadly, Picard is just Ash vs. The Evil Dead reskinned to be a show about Picard.
Same 3 season, 30 episode arc for the character, a new journey for an old dude who found out they had a kid, and have to make some kind of sacrifice for them, with a new crew.
Lol, Michelle Hurd is in that one too.
After watching the Cage, gonna start Disco, and imo, I didn't hate 1 and 2.
I was disappointed SNW didn't keep that gorgeous Octagonal viewport though.
I loved that thing in Disco season 2.
Episode 7 could have been a bit more developed, like way more developed.
It was a run on of first acts, and it kinda made me wish Pike and Batel actually had a daughter, who died tragically in a shuttle accident.
For the sake of Pike's tragedy, had his daughter been real, and he lost her, and Batel lost her.
It would have added so much weight into that season 3 finale, and this moment in the show.
Like she died preceding his appearance on Discovery, preceding the 5 year mission.
But, I'm looking forward to seeing Thomas Jane as Bones next season.

Like I said, to me. I know SNW lost it's appeal to me prior to season 1, when they announced Goldsman as showrunner, since 95 percent of his writing career starting in 1994 has been things that the world would rather forget.
But, they were written by Piller, Behr, Moore and Braga. But, I'm a DS9 fan, not a SNW fan.
Piller, Behr, Moore, and Braga didn't torture the world with Bat Nipples Clooney, Jim Carrey's Spandex Riddler, and Schwarzanegger's puns,(Batman Forever and Batman and Robin are visual crimes unto themselves.) A beautiful mind, and Halle Berry's Catwoman, among other cinematic abominations like Johnah Hex, Winter's Tale, and The Dark Tower.
Akiva Goldsman's taste is in making hundred million dollar B-movie schlock.
To me, B-movie schlock loses it's appeal, the moment it looks expensive, the whole point of a B-movie, is that it's low budget and cheap looking. Beer, Popcorn and B-movies are a staple, but they need to be cheap.
I'd overlook a lot of Goldsman's flaws if he would just commit to the bit, and go full Roger Corman.
Shlock is like this, it's cheap, it doesn't take long to film, and it's made in bulk.
Akiva Goldsman is like a Michelen Chef who serves tiny McDonald's Burgers on a giant plate.
Takes forever to make, and there's not nearly enough.
He's a shlock hipster.
His follow up to his stint on Trek is rebooting these properties, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, and The Time Tunnel.
Didn't Abrams' Alcatraz pay homage to the Time Tunnel? It starred the late Sam Neill? If I recall.
It also had a badass Mustang Chase scene.
He wants to do B movies.
To me SNW has been bland since it's second season, probably because the bard of bland Akiva Goldsman is showrunner.
I've been trying to force myself to love it for years, but singing Klingons, Pelia's voice, and puppet episodes make it very difficult to do.
I would love an hour long episode of Pelia speaking just so you could put it on in the background of a comedy film, and the character is listening to this unintelligible voice.
All he has to do is make something that costs less than 5 million.
But he's a B-movie hipster in my mind. Make a B-movie, but for 100 million dollars.
But Akiva Goldsman did have something to do with Fringe, and I really like Fringe.
I can't really say SNW is worth more than rest of the franchise.
Leonard Nimoy is Spock, Shatner is Kirk, TOS rules in that regard. (I like the Kelvin Timeline, but SNW like the Kelvin Timeline is a derivative prequel.)
Quinto's Spock isn't iconic, Peck's claim to fame aside from Spock is that his grandfather is Gregory Peck.
Nimoy came from nothing in Boston, he didn't have a claim to fame. TOS also spawned movies and the franchise.
TNG is considered a crown jewel. TNG resurrected the TV legacy, and got 4 films.
A good chunk of episodes in the current era are directed by Johnathan Frakes.
SNW is part of the legacy. (I enjoyed "The Orville" a lot more.)
Only the Orville could be the reason half of the science fiction community would join in mourning the death of Dolly Parton.
Only McFarlane with his ADHD brain could put Dolly Parton to E.T. RadFem.
All I can give it is, that it's part of the legacy, but it could have been so much more.
Anson Mount's Pike feels so wasted in this show to me.

DS9 should be considered a crown jewel, Ron Moore, one of the biggest sci fi writers started on TNG, and DS9.
Voyager and Enterprise, there are arguments on their validity.
But I can give TNG and Voyager one thing, each of them had a breakout character.
Picard, Worf, and 7 of 9 and maybe Quark are the breakout characters of that era.
I haven't seen that in this era. The closest we got was Pike, a forced Phillipa Georgeiu, and the underrated Captain Lorca (Another of my favorite captains, since I like captains who go out of their way to commit war crimes. Sisko, Janeway and Lorca being my favorites.)
I feel that this era had to rely on past icons the entire time, it didn't have it's own breakout characters, and it's not known for doing anything unique.
DS9 was the first war Trek, Voyager transitioned the show fully into the CGI era. It had stand out performances.
I don't feel this era of Trek had any of that.
This is coming from a guy who desperately wants to love SNW. It is a show you wrestle with. (I did enjoy some of season 1.) It wants to be TOS/TNG, and it played it way too safe.
Anson Mount and Bruce Greenwood are Captain Pike, and I loved both of their takes.
Jeffrey Hunter never felt like a great captain to me. He had the look, but he didn't feel like a Trek Captain.
But as long as DS9 and Voyager are getting remastered and released on an HD format, make Akiva Goldsman the lifetime showrunner for all future Trek productions, I don't care anymore.
Give him Year One, but don't call it Year One, just admit you're remaking TOS, that's my only caveat... and what I mean by that is this.
Just label it "Star Trek". He seems pretty sincere, and he's very business savy, but imo, let him dictate Trek forever, as long as the old legacy productions are well cared for.
Since Kurtzman is going, perhaps Goldsman could be the next Rick Berman. I think Kurtzman's run was hit and miss, and I think Goldsman is a good ideas guy, and producer.
Maybe he'd be better suited succeeding Kurtzman?

Paramount has said nothing about him leaving. That's a rather large assumption.
His current contract is nearly up, and some people don't seem to understand that expiring contracts can be renewed.
I think we'll find out one way or another rather shortly.
Certainly by wrapping up all of his series, the studio has increased their leverage against him, as they can threaten to sign a new contract with someone else to get more favorable terms.
I have to say I'm a little concerned about the details of Kurtzman's contract, presuming he gets let go.
I would presume that to a certain extent his company has ownership over the shows, which is why a new EP couldn't just announce a continuation of say Lower Decks without paying some sort of royalties out to him. But how far down does it go? Like, if someone pitches a new show which includes a character established in the Kurtzman era, would he get a payment? What if they just referenced something from an earlier show?
We might end up getting an effective reboot, where new Trek might reference things from TOS/the Berman era, but they'll just ignore a decade of Trek for the foreseeable future.
