The big square windows on the saucer underside really help a great deal making the cartoon feel to match the TOS version better than with the Disco-snaggle-tooth windows
They're teeth in both versions though.
Edit: Oh but not in later shots. Must be a rendering error, or just stylized for the far away shots.

One of the lovely things I noticed in my 3rd viewing (yeah) is the reaction of Spock's crew mates (and friends) to his attempts at emotional expression. M'Benga just smiles and says, "it's new." No one seems to be overly concerned about his experimenting. Reminds me a little of Data trying stuff out except without the coy asides he doesn't quite understand or people laughing when they think they're out of earshot. I mean I laughed too a lot of times but now it kind of seems cruel. Like using sarcasm on a four year old.

Kind of sad, really, because on my ENT rewatch, I really liked Travis and thought he had the potential for some real storytelling, but they just kind of ignored him most of the time.

One of the characters with the most potential from the very beginning in 2001 but left to flounder by producers who just couldn't seem to focus on anyone who wasn't the Main Three (with occasional visits to the daily lives of Phlox and Malcolm).

This episode was really a perfect 10. There's really nothing that I can add that hasn't already been said that wouldn't sound exceedingly gushy.

The only thing that could have made it better, get it up to 11, would have been Boimler and Mariner receiving a call from "present-day" Ambassador Spock immediately upon their return welcoming them back. Or Pelia, even.

TYLER: Um...ship? Help!

pc1.jpg

PIKE: What the hell kind of communicator is that?!

pc3.jpg

UNA: HIs delta badge is also a communicator. Like the one Tyler had. What if he belongs to Section 31?

pc4.jpg

PIKE: Seriously? Can you imagine that kid working for Section 31? He's almost as tall as Saru. And that purple hair?

Fred Tasciatore has an appropriately wide face for Shaxs. With a big moustache and wig he'd be close enough. The problem is Shaxs' physique. Musclesuit and stilts?

FWIW. I *like* Ortegas, I think she's a great character. Just that her 'tude is a little harsh. As I said in my post imagine if Wesley under Riker or Picard, or Chekov or Sulu under Kirk, Paris under Janeway, or disposable character under Sisko quipped in the same way? They wouldn't take it. Even The Cage Pike.
Methink's perhaps you may have forgotten all the times Mr. Chekov quipped that a multitude of things were created by Russians, while at his post on the bridge.
I don't seem to remember Captain Kirk ever dressing him down for those.
