I got the new book yesterday and really liked the stories I've read so far.The Enterprise stories are really good as well the Tos story The Smell of dead roses. I just want to tell Dean Weasley Smith, Margaret Clark and Paula Block and all the writers thank you for all the wonderful stories you've told over the years. I've really enjoyed reading them over the past ten years. So far this books been really an interesting read I really Liked The Dream and the T'Pol story. :)

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! I finally had some time this weekend to start reading it during what spare time I had at Shore Leave, and I'm loving what my fellow writers did in their stories.

Enjoy the rest of the stories, and be sure to check out the other nine volumes (and 170+ stories) if you haven't already. :)

Thanks Jim I have the other nine Volumes and enjoyed them Mackdaddy to answer qustion about the Enterprise story The Dream
The story takes place during Similtude after Phlox does the surgery that saves Trip's life from Sim's neroutissue and the fact it's touch and go with Trip surviving after having the surgery.I don't want to say too much but it's a really neat story.
.I've read all the Tos and Tng stories and I really what I've read so far alot of stories that fans will like. :D

I just got mine this weekend. I hope to give my opinion later in the week.

Can't wait to see what's in there this year!

I'll have to look for it next time I'm at the book store. Looking forward to reading the new stories in SNW's swansong.

Yes, Dean wrote the foreward mentioning this was the end of SNW.

Glad people are liking it! I think my fellow writers did a great job!!

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

What are the Speculations stories about? I often find these to be the best stories in SNW.

Speculation stories are Time line Jerry M. Wolf a Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln story that's really good. Echoes by Randy Tatano a story about the Borg and a misssion to stop them. Briga doon Rigel Ailur and Reborn by Jeremy Yoder they're really good stories. I haven't read the last one yet.

I liked the Speculations stories. I never knew Gary Seven was such a cradle-robber.

And "Rebirth" was interesting too, especially that last bit about
Lazarus. BOTH of his duplicates were released from the 'prison' they were in as of 'The Alternative Factor', and each deposited on their respective universes' version of Bajor.

Some statistics: If my count is right, there are 212 stories in total in all 10 SNW volumes, 209 of which were contest winners. There are 51 TOS stories, 51 TNG stories, 27 DS9 stories, 49 VGR stories, 16 ENT stories, 17 Speculations stories, and one "If Klingons Wrote ST" story.

All in all, there were 9 tribble stories, 8 Q stories, and 11 Borg stories (including 2 Borg-origin stories). There were 4 "City on the Edge of Forever" variants/spinoffs and 4 other stories featuring the Guardian. There were 5 stories about characters reacting to Kirk's death (either the apparent one or the real one) and 3 about Kirk having after-death experiences. There were 4 Gary Seven stories, 3 "Piece of the Action" sequels, 3 Kobayashi Maru stories (two about Nog), 3 Captain Proton stories, and 3 Benny Russell stories (counting the Captain Proton story supposedly written by Benny Russell). And I believe there are 5 stories that cross over lead characters from at least three different Trek series, either in succession or in combination (and 3 of those are in the current volume). Still, overall there was a great deal of variety among these and the other stories.

I don't have time, so I'll leave it to someone else to compile statistics about how many authors participated and how many had 2 or 3 stories.

What? No list of who had three stories in a row?

--Ted

When I said I'd leave it to "someone else" to compile the list, I should've just said "KRAD." What was I thinking?

So how many of those authors "graduated" from SNW to other Trek fiction? I count at least 14, but there were some I wasn't sure of.

I think the following have. I suspect there are more, but this was just at a glance. I'll have to pull books off my shelves to be sure.

And, it's possible I conflated "any additional fiction" with "more Trek fiction". I know Phaedra just had a non-Trek book come out, f'rinstance.
