Strange New Worlds 10

Amy Vincent has sold an original trilogy of urban fantasy novels, but she's doing it under a different name.

Gonna get my copy tonight :D

Looking forward to HopefulRomantic's story The Dream

Cool!

I don't have time, so I'll leave it to someone else to compile statistics about how many authors participated and how many had 2 or 3 stories.
*picks up gauntlet*

Three stories: 31
Etc, etc. and so forth.

My first reaction: OMG, he kept track?

My second reaction: Ok, I'm printing this thread out.

My third reaction: Are some of those people still around (apart from the named ones), or did they drop off the face of the Earth?

My fourth reaction: I wish my two Alternates counted... but now I'm whining. I'm still submitting to other markets... slowly.

Google 'em (or, you know, search engine of your choice). I'm sure many of the people listed are still actively writing, even if they haven't landed any further Trek projects or high profile deals like a trilogy of original novels (and way to go, Amy!). Brett Hudgins, to pick a name seemingly at random, of SNW VII's Second Prize winner for "Guardians" (and contributor to VI) fame, is active in the small press with a number of anthology appearances (two of which we're co-contributors on), as well as having penned an entry in former Trek editor John Ordover's Vale and Mist series (whatever happened to that, anyway?).

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

I should try that sometime. The only problem with that is when I've Googled myself, I come up with a wildflower photographer/nature writer, unless I modify it by "Star Trek" and/or "fan fiction". Now while I've taken pictures of wildflowers and I like nature -- sort of -- I've never written about it and certainly have never been published for it.

So the moral of the story is that I have to be careful who and how I Google. But thanks for the suggestion.

The entire Phobos operation went on indefinite hold last year.

I know what you mean. Google "Laura Ware" and you come up with a mayor. I think if I were mayor of someplace I'd know it... ;)

That's the nice thing about my name -- you Google "Keith DeCandido" (with or without the middle initials), and I'm all you get. :)

*Takes a moment to contemplate the sheer volume of fiction output that could be produced by multiple KRADs*

Anybody got a quantum computer lying around I could borrow?

I read it last night! Wonderful! Even if there's no more SNW, you need to write more (I know you do ;)) and get published dear

Christopher said:So how many of those authors "graduated" from SNW to other Trek fiction? I count at least 14, but there were some I wasn't sure of.

I think the following have. I suspect there are more, but this was just at a glance. I'll have to pull books off my shelves to be sure.

And, it's possible I conflated "any additional fiction" with "more Trek fiction". I know Phaedra just had a non-Trek book come out, f'rinstance.

TG Theodore

Alas, while I've been invited to pitch to a number of Trek anthologies, (and even completed a story for one), I've yet to appear in any Trek fiction beyond SNW.

I know, I know, it just seems like I have because I post here so damn much! :)

Ah, sorry about that, boss. I thought you had a SCE/COE story. My bad.
